Living a life of worship: A connection to your next level, by Minister Joseph Ogunjobi
Texts: Phil. 1:20; Rom. 12:1-2
The life of worship we are talking about here goes beyond kneeling before and singing unto God. It means living a life that glorifies God; living with a view of His purpose; to live a life readily yielding to God’s will; seeking to honour Christ such that you are willing to pour out yourself before God as a sacrifice not minding the cost for as long as He will be honoured.
Many of us find it easier to worship God by saying beautiful things to Him than to demonstrate it in reality. Actually, for a man to experience a lasting reward such that starts from here on earth and continues till eternity, he must see his life as a worship (honour) unto God….for those who honour God them will He honour (1 Sam 2:30).
Ruth (Ruth 1:1-16): forsook all (her identity, relations), embraced and declared God as her God (got converted and saved) to demonstrate her unflinching loyalty unto her mother in-law. Can we refuse to live our life for Jesus’s sake? Of course, that was not the end of Ruth, for the Lord, through that act of worship, made her to be part of the linage of Jesus Christ.
Mary (John 12:1-7): Poured out her very expensive oil on Jesus. She could have held on to the oil and use it for something that brings “quick reward” or used it on herself to attract the people around. She chose rather to worship Jesus with it. Although it was thought as a waste, she did that to secure for herself an eternal reward (Mark 14:9). Are you willing to waste yourself including those precious things of yours for God’s glory? Phil 3:7.
David’s three mighty men (2 Sam 23:14-17) risked their lives by breaking through the camp of a deadly Philistine’s army in order to meet the need of and please their master. That is worship in action and not in words! Jesus is also longing to drink from the waters of devoted men, are you ready to meet His needs?
Jesus is looking for people who will are willing to count their lives as nothing but to be poured on Him as a sacrifice of worship for the glory of His name.
