Memorise verse: John 8:36 If the son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed
Text today: John 8:34-36 (NIV) or (KJV).
Many people think they are free, but that is not completely true because you are not free indeed! The actual freedom is available in our Lord Jesus Christ. Absolutely anyone that still commits sin and claims to be free are deceiving themselves. The greatest challenge in the world is sin.
During the days of Jesus here on earth, the Jews did not know they were in bondage. Hence, they were astonished when Jesus said that the words which He spoke to them would set them free. In the spiritual passage before us today Jesus Christ revealed the source of bondage which people entangle themselves in.
Only the truth of the word of God and Jesus can set a man free from sin. John 8:31-32 – If we apply the Truth of God’s Word, it will set us free. The question is how can we know the truth? No other means can afford us the requested freedom. Another fact in the Word of the God is that whoever commits sin is of the devil, but the Son of God has come to destroy the power of sin in man. Read 1John 3:8
In Acts 4:12, we read that there is no salvation by any other because there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. If you are being tempted by the task-master of sin, the good news is that Jesus Christ is able to set you free, if you will come to him today in total repentance. Believe Him today, and you will be free from all bondage.
Once you are free indeed you are …
a. Free to confront
b. Free to enjoy food; and yet at the same time, free from overeating
c. Free to spend money, and yet free from the bondage to debt
d. Free to speak boldly and plainly, and yet free from being ill-mannered and rude
e. Free to dream great dreams for our futures
f. Free to be all we can be
g. Free to be ourselves, and yet realizing that we constantly need to be changing.
Father, please set me free from all forms of bondage in which the enemy has kept me In Jesus name.
