Moving The Hand Of God

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye –

Brethren The Hand of God can be for a man or be against a man, the hand of God can also be upon a man for good or for bad, the hand of God can save or deliver a man or it can condemn or fight against a man. The Bible makes us to understand from the Book of Psalm 118:16 ‘That the right hand of the Lord exalts, the right hand of the Lord does valiantly (The power of God is superior to all enemies) this is when the hand of God is upon a man and not against him. Yet again the Bible makes us understand that in Hebrews 10:31 that ‘It is fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, this is when the hand of the God is against. Brethren we have countless examples of instances in the Bible where the hand of God was against a fellow or a nation. But my heart-felt prayer for us is that the Hand of God will forever be for us and not against us in Jesus name.
Our main bible passage will be taken from the Book of Matt.15:21-28, Brethren a very interesting story I must say, some versions of the Bible referred to this woman as a Greek woman or the Syrophoenician woman, and this simply means that the woman was not a Jew but a gentile, but even though she was not a Jew, she must have heard about Jesus, The Lord of lords, The King of kings, The Great Deliverer, The Great Healer, The Carrier of eternal joy. She must have heard about the miracles, the healings and the testimonies of people and above all she was able trace the lineage of Jesus because the Bible made us to understand in Matt. 15:22 that she called Jesus ‘O Lord thou son of David, so she knew who she had come to for help (The Help of the helpless). Above all she was on a mission of moving the hand of God, a mission that seemed an impossible task but the Bible says in Luke 1:37 ‘But with God all things are possible. Brethren I would like us to concentrate on the key things this woman did that moved the hand of God for good for her on this particular day and I want to believe if we do these key things we can also move the hand of God for us as touching every area of our lives in Jesus name. The Bible says in Isaiah 42:21 ‘Present your case, says the Lord, bring forward your strong arguments. In order words God is saying can you prove I have done this before, if you are able to and you want to move My hand, then you can if you believe.
Unwavering & Unshakable Faith
Faith that believes in God and that He can do all things. Heb. 11:6. We remember the Lord said to her in Matt. 15:28 ‘O woman great is thy faith. She left home believing that by the time she came from visiting and meeting with the Great Physician her daughter was going to made whole and that is the miracle she received.
Do not keep silent
Brethren we must not be silent about our predicament, the Bible says in Matt.15:22 that the woman cried unto Jesus saying ‘Have mercy on me, O Lord thou son of David’. The Bible says Jesus is the very present help in time of need. In the book of Mk.10:46-50 when Blind Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by he lifted is voice and cried out to the Lord for mercy until he drew the attention of Jesus to his predicament and he received his sight. Brethren it does not pay to keep silent when we are supposed to cry for help and mercy. You do not need to cry to everybody but cry to the one who will help you. The Shunammite woman kept on saying it is well until she got to the feet of Elisha the Prophet of God. If you want to move the hand of God then you must lift your voice and cry for help and mercy.
Worship: Brethren we must not under estimate the power of worship and praise, if prayer does not seem to work, why don’t you switch to praise and worship, Brethren we can sometimes pray amiss but we can not praise amiss. God will not turn his back to true worship and praise, He is the Holy One of Israeli and He inhabits in the praise of his people. The Creator can not praise Himself that is why he created us for his pleasure. The bible says in Matt. 15:24 that Jesus’ answer to the woman’s cry of mercy was ‘ I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israeli (the Jews) but the Bible records that this woman bowed and worshipped Jesus saying Lord help me. She was just saying to him you are The Greatest, The Most Powerful, no one can be compared to you, I was told you are good in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening, I was told that at no time do you cast out anyone that cries out to you for mercy, I have searched through eternity and I have found no God like you, I have no where else to go Lord, please help me Lord, she was not put off by what Jesus said.
Humility: The Bible stated in Matt.15: 26 that this woman was called a dog (But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dog’s) but she humbled herself and said yes Lord I accept I am a dog but yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table. A lot people would have turned back and gone back home at this point.
Brethren the amazing lesson to learn from this story is that the time of the Gentiles had not come, the Lord had already made provision for them in the future but this Gentile woman was able to move the hand of God upon her daughter’s life in a good way even when it was not yet time for her race to start enjoying the mercy and grace of God. With her unwavering faith, her heart of true worship, her cry of mercy to the Lord and her humility she was able to move the hand of God forward into time to receive a blessing that was not yet time to manifest. This is awesome, we too can do same by the grace of God. May the Lord bless us in Jesus name.

Purge yourself and have rest on all sides

By Doctor Aderemi Adelugba –
Text: 2 Chronicles 14: 1-7; 15: 1-15
The month of February has been declared the month of Divine Cleansing by God Almighty through His prophet. The simple meaning of cleansing is purging. Purging away of all uncleanliness is required before you can have rest on all sides. Un-cleanliness means iniquity, sins and filthiness. If all these are not purged, it would result in complication and unpleasant situations like afflictions, lack of peace, failure, lack, unproductiveness, joblessness, sickness and many more. Therefore, it is absolutely important to acknowledge our transgressions and recognise that, only the King of kings can purge and wash us clean. We have to turn away from all crookedness, wickedness and ask the Lord for a clean and pure heart.

Isaiah 55:7: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon”.

Repentance and restoration are two fundamental experiences a man must undergo before he can be separated for the Lord’s use. Without these, they would not enjoy God’s rest. Sin is not to be covered up. If you cover up your sins, God can come down with heavy hands. But when you call upon Him, He will purge and restore you for favour (Psalm 32:3-5). May the Lord cleanse all our iniquities and make His spirit to dwell in us in Jesus name.

The Israelites were God’s own people. He had compassion over them and, they were highly favoured. He even called them His son (Hosea 11:1). But unfortunately, they continued to disappoint God who had planned their repentance. They were engrossed in sins and uncleanliness. Still, God was so keen to bring them back to righteousness. For their joy to be full, and for them to have rest on all sides, they needed to get rid of all the strange gods (2 Chronicles 14:3). God on numerous occasions raised up Judges, Priests, Prophets and Kings. King Asa of Judah was one of them.

In 2 Chronicles 14:1-7, King Asa inherited a nation full of greed, idolatry, anarchy and all forms of sins and uncleanliness. Asa’s first responsibility was to purge the land of all sins. King Asa led a powerful revival that lead to cleansing and restoration of the people. The focus of this sermon was to reiterate that a child of God must purge himself or herself before they can have peace and rest. The scripture says in Asa’s days as king, the land was quiet for 10 years. I don’t know what stronghold or turmoil you are experiencing, but now there shall be peace in Jesus name.

Peace and prosperity: These can only happen when people put God first, and walk away from all uncleanliness. Asa did just that, he destroyed all alters of Baal and high places. God would not abandon His people, if they can turn away from all uncleanliness and turn to Him. He would invite and cause them to enjoy peace.

God reacts to our actions: Asa acted, and God honoured Himself in the life of His people.

2 Chronicle 14:5 “Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him”.

If you choose to get rid of your filthiness and sins, the Lord is sincere, just and faithful at all times to help and respond to your willingness. He is our constant help in trouble. For a long time, Israel was in the hand of Jeroboam and, the misbehaviour of Rehoboam after the death of Solomon. They paid dearly and were ruled over by godless kings. But when King Asa came, divine turn around came for them. Every atrocities or mistakes you have made in your life that has caused you problems, the King of kings will cleanse and restore you back in Jesus name.

For you to have rest on all sides, you must seek Him wholeheartedly: The Lord destroyed the Ethiopians and restored His people (2 Chronicles 14:11-14). To seek God wholeheartedly would mean to ignore sins and remain cleansed. In this month the Lord will give you rest all around in Jesus name.

In 2 Chronicles 15:15. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about”.

Humility is required, if you must remain purged: The Prodigal son returned to his father in humility – Luke 15:11-22. We saw how the prodigal son landed himself in a deep mess. He spent all his inheritance lavishly, drinking and living in sin with boys without future. But one day, after he had hit the bottom of his failure, feeding with swine and dwelling in poverty, he discovered the need to be cleansed and return in humility. Luke 15:18 “He said, I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father I have sinned against heaven and before you”…The Lord will grant you the courage to arise and be purged. He will receive you and grant you rest on all sides in Jesus name.

You must meet Him daily in fellowship, praises and thanksgivings: In Luke 19:1-10, the bible showed us how the man Zaccheus encountered the Lord Jesus Christ. This unpopular wealthy short tax collector was hated by his fellow Jews as a terrible sinner. He might have been hearing about the powerful miracles the Lord Jesus had been doing, and he desired to know Him. For Zaccheus to be purged, he needed to meet the Lord. The Lord is waiting for you. Desire Him and He will dine with you. Following the encounter, Zaccheus enjoyed the salvation of the Lord with his household Luke 19: 9-10. The god of money in his life was dethroned, and the saving Lord was enthroned in His life. Therefore, you are also a candidate of heaven.

God can purge and heal every sickness: Only the Lord of heaven can purge us of all infirmities. Not a king or prince of this world. He can undo what the earthily doctors have declared concerning your health. God spoke his word through Elisha into Naaman’s leprosy that, he should go and wash in Jordan seven times. Following this, Naaman’s flesh became like that of a little child (2 Kings 5:1-19).

I don’t know what your sins have been, how much you have wrongfully received from people, what the doctors have spoken concerning your health. The Lord is inviting you back to himself and He will perform wonderful miracles in your life and, you will have rest on all sides in Jesus name Amen.

By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye –
Mathew 5: 13-16 – 13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Here Jesus was not addressing Governors, Pharisees, Sadducees, Sanhedrin, Kings etc. But he was talking to farmers, fishermen, traders, shepherds, housewives, jobless etc.
This must have amazed the people who heard it for they were not among the world’s powerful or elite of their time, or in any way in a position to think of themselves as people who were able to impact the world at all.
However, Jesus knew both the world and them. He knew the state of the world as well as what the world wants. He equally knew what has been invested in the people and more so that the investment existing ion the people is devoid in the world.
After all said and done, the question is did this lay people actually manifest? Take for example, Peter and John episode with the man at the Beautiful Gate. I believe that if they had sponsored the lame man to have an operation that would have been a level of manifestation. But to ask the man to just rise up and walk, that was super manifestation!
No wonder a testimony concerning them was written in Acts 4: 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Peter and John were able to manifest because they had been with Jesus. You and I have equally been with Jesus, they were with Him physically for over three years, how many years have you been with the Lord spiritually?
The same of word of charge comes to us today. Do you see yourself as a salt, light or city on a hill?
Slat works because it is fundamentally different from the things to which it is applied. Only when we are different, can we really make a meaningful difference to the world around us.
SALT IS A PRESERVATIVE – When rubbed into meat, for example, it prevents the meat from decaying, and keeps it good to eat. Salt keeps something from becoming bad.
SALT PROTECTS – When dissolved in a glass of water, it helps kill the germs that cause sore throat.
SALT IS A SEASONING AGENT – When sprinkled on bland food, it helps to enhance their flavour.
In Job 6: 6-7
6 Can that which has no taste to it be eaten without salt? Or is there any flavor in the white of an egg?
7 [These afflictions] my soul refuses to touch! Such things are like diseased food to me [sickening and repugnant]!
Salt by itself doesn’t taste so good; salt applied to food makes it better (just as you might think of what is good about you, just add yourself to the world and you will see the result.)
We are to function as preservative agents in the world. Often, the fact that a godly person is present stops the trend toward sin.
We are the seasoning agent in the world. We do this by helping people see theur is an alternative to the constant downward spiral of despair. An example is Elijah in the apostate Israel state (1Kings 18:1-39).
Light is used to signal
Light is used to guide (Psalm 119:105 NIV) Your world is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
Light is used to penetrate the darkness and expose evil and error. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” John 3:19-24)
Light is used to prevent sin (security lights in dark areas).
Light is used to produce growth (plants).
Light does not exist for its own glory but to brighten up the world. Example is John the Baptist as the forerunner of Jesus Christ. He was a light pointing to a greater light (Luke 1:76-79).
Jesus was using a metaphor that the people were familiar with. In the old Jewish times, special cities were built on hills. This is so for many reasons: as refuge centres (Joshua 20: 1-9). people should be able to run to you and find safety, solace, help, comfort etc.
7 So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah. 8 On the east side of the Jordan of Jericho[a] they designated Bezer in the desert on the plateau in the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead in the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan in the tribe of Manasseh. 9 Any of the Israelites or any alien living among them who killed someone accidentally could flee to these designated cities and not be killed by the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.
They could be seen from a distance.
They enjoya good view;
They are good defensive sites;
They are easily noticeable;
They portray advance skill and technology;
Elisha was a “city” that was set on a hill.
Naman came to Samaria to look for him (11 Kings 5: 1-14) – he was able to locate his exact house. Host of Syria recognise this as well (11 Kings 6:8-16) – they found him in Dothan.
The Lord challenge to myself and possibly to you.
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. (Luke 8:16)
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. (Luke 11:33)
You may not be able to rain down fire from heaven like Elijah
You may not be a great evangelist as John the Baptist.
You may not be able to heal leprosy, or blind your enemies like Elisha.
You can however do the following:
12 Conduct yourselves properly (honorably, righteously) among the Gentiles, so that, although they may slander you as evildoers, [yet] they may by witnessing your good deeds [come to] glorify God in the day of inspection [[a]when God shall look upon you wanderers as a pastor or shepherd looks over his flock]. (1 Peter 2:12).
14 Do all things without grumbling and fault finding and complaining [[a]against God] and [b]questioning and doubting [among yourselves],
15 That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world. (Phil.2:14-15).
Two options are available to you: manifest or not to manifest. What will be your take?

-Sermon delivered by Pastor Samuel Obafaiye on 29th July, 2012.

Eight hindrances to indelible footprints –

By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye –
1. Partial obedience/disobedience: After that the Israelites had persisted that they wanted a king like other nations around them; God selected Saul as the first king in Israel. Saul was very humble and good just for 2 years and after that he committed his first disobedience by performing a sacrifice by himself. Not long afterwards, he committed partial obedience when God asked him to destroy the Amalekites and their animals. He killed the people, but kept alive their king and fat livestocks. Samuel then pronounced the word of God to Saul (1 Sam. 15: 16-23).
Saul would have reigned till his next generation would have continue after him; but because of his disobedience, he lost what would have been his indelible footprint.
Part obedience or disobedience will take one’s footprints away. Make sure you obey God always.
2. Pride: The bible make us to know that Satan was not evil from the beginning. He was a special creation of God. He was the arch-angel. The one that stood in the presence of God continually. He was anointed more the other angels. However, he allowed pride to overcome him and felt that the role he was playing was too little, he wanted to be god himself. He was then cast down from heaven by angel Michael and earned himself eternity in lake of fire! (Isaiah 14: 12-17).

What do you have that you have not been given by God? God stays away from the proud, talk less of people. You must be humble to leave a good memory behind you.

3. Greed and covetousness: the bible makes us to know that Elisha by the special grace of god was able to receive the double portion of the anointing of God upon Elijah. Everything Elijah did, Elisha was able to do twice. One would have thought that the servant of Elisha would be that wise to demand the double of the anointing upon his master, which would have been a quadruple of the anointing of Elijah. Unfortunately, because of greed and covetousness, the servant of Elisha lost his indelible footprint and earned leprosy for his generation! (2 kings 5: 19-27).

This negative attribute is what actually finished judas iscariot. He was following Jesus not because he wanted to preach the gospel, but because of the the supposed benefit that might come with the assignment (John 12: 1-7). The rest eleven apostles got indelible footprint – their names written on the foundation of new Jerusalem (rev. 21:14) and additional reward to judge their tribe in Isreal (Luke 22:30); judas on the other hand got the second death which is the lake of fire!

Covetous people are always frustrated frustrated people. They will always chase after shadows, because they are seeking to live other people’s lives. Do not put your eyes in what is not yours. Ask God for your own. It is what is unique to you that will have your remembrance on. E.g Manchester; Bradrford; apostle

4. Lack of honour – God: the Levites were a special tribe of Israel before Jehovah. They were specifically assigned to come before God and conduct sacrifice for the people, including their rulers. However, the children of Eli violated the condition of their service before God by taking the aspect of the offering that belongs to Jehovah while the offering was going on, thereby retaining the sin of the people. God would not take it anymore and decided to reverse their indelible footprint. They died a shameful death and their footprint was taken over by a non Levites – Samuel (1 Sam. 2: 30-36).

Lack of honour – Man: the bible admonish us to submit to authority because the powers that be are ordained by God. There was a time when David was running away from Absalom his son, he then came across Shimei who was related to king Saul. Shemei rained abuses and curses on David without giving regard or honour to him(2 Sam. 16: 5-13). Unfortunately for Shemei, David regained his throne. Even though David did not take revenge, Solomon – his son had the opportunity to avenge the dishonour Shemei did to David and that shortened the life of Shemei (1 Kings 2: 43-46).

If you did not give honour and reverence to God, He can’t make you have good memory. If you dishonour people God has placed before you also, you will not earn the sort of honour that will give you a good memorial.

5. Laziness: God hates indolence. He makes sure that people who are lazy are not able to live a life of indelible footprint positively. Jesus told us a parable about the talents. A master was travelling and gave 3 of his servants gifts to work with. Two of them traded with their gifts and gained double more. The other one hid his own gift in the ground and was playing around. Their master came back commended and promoted the first two; but the third one was punished and the only gift that he had was taken away and still given the the first man! (Mt. 25: 14-30). The bible says that those who are consistently diligent will enjoy indelible footprint (Provide. 22:29). The same bible says those that are lazy will not amount to anything in life (Prov. 28: 19).
You can’t afford to be lazy. You will be remembered by what you did with your time. Do you have a talent? Gift? Skill? Or knowledge? Using it well will earn you indelible footprint.

6. Stinginess: Those who are tight handed can never have indelible footprint for good. What will people remember them with?
For the first time in their lives, Cain and Abel were opportune to bring gift unto their Creator. Cain was stingy while Abel was generous. Today, we still remember Abel for his good service to God (Gen. 4:3-5). Nabal was another stingy man in the bible. He was very rich in sheep and goat. Only to kill few goats for David and his men, he refused. He even rained abuses on David. Unfortunately for him, for his deed he suffered a heart attack and died prematurely 7days later, leaving everything he had for David who married his wife -Abigail (I Sam. 25: 2-10, 36-38).
It is not possible to leave behind non-erasable footprint if you are tight handed, because the bible says it will lead to poverty (Prov. 11:24). Except that a poor man invests in a good name, he can not be remembered at all.

7. Mountains of failures & spiritual attacks: it is possible for a bonafide child of God to undergo tough times, the good news is that if you are not ignorant of who you are, you will overcome and still leave a good mark behind. Jabez was a child of God, but was grieved with sorrow and failures. However, one day his sorrow turned to joy; his failure turned to honour and he left a non-erasable footprint behind (I Chro. 4:10). What is that mountain and failure before you? Such failures will come to an end today in Jesus name.

8. Impatience: many of us do go through trials and challenges in life. Some of us are patient to see their way of escape open to them; while others are impatient to act before they ought to and by so doing ruined their chance to leave a good footprint behind.
God had ordained that He will use Abraham to bless the whole world, Abraham however had only Isaac which was the promised child. Isaac on the other hand had two children – Esau and Jacob. These two were twins, Esau was privileged to come out first to become the carrier of the Divine promised from Abraham. However one day after coming back from hunting, he was famished with hunger and he was too impatient to prepare something or even drink water. He sold his birthright to Abel because he saw a ready meal with him! (Gen. 25: 29-34).
From that time, unknowing to him, he became the junior and Jacob became the senior and the carrier of the Abrahamic covenant! Jacob became the father of many nations promised by God afterwards and Esau became the Edomites – enemies of God.

There is a set time for everything you need from God. Your impatience can only be on your knees and not by hurrying to get it done before him. Doing it your way in hurry will delete the indelible footprint that would have come from that thing.

Altar call
Almighty Father, empower me with everything to do your will. Work in me to please you all the time in Jesus name.
Almighty Father, build an hedge of protection around the works of my hands and all my substance.
Almighty Father, let whatever vocation, business or job I am involved in be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. Let all that pertains to me bring forth their fruits in their season.
Almighty Father, help me not to labour in vain; let your beauty appear in my life.
In Jesus name, I will not wither financially; dryness will not come into anything I do.
I proclaim that my season of financial fruitfulness has come.
From now on, whatever I lay my hands on will prosper in Jesus name.
I will not build for another to inhabit; I will not plant for another to eat in Jesus name.
For every seed of labour, time, energy, money and love I have sown in life, I demand a hundred fold in Jesus name.

Believe God for the wisdom and empowerment to live a life that will generate a good footprint to rest upon you.
