— By Pastor Aderemi Adelugba,
Beloved, to be lifted up high is an indication of greatness from God. It is therefore imperative to understand that greatness is a journey with the Lord, and it can be likened to the process of starting to build a house, and completing it. So when a house is started and completed, that is when the beauty of the architectural plan and designs will be revealed and admired. One thing that can stop the process of building is lack of money, lack of raw materials and shortage of builders. Likewise in the journey to the top, certain things can shunt the journey if one is not careful, I pray that your journey to greatness will not be halted in Jesus name.
Greatness is a concept of superiority which can affect a person, or an object. It is used to describe a person and the work they have done. So if you must be great, your greatness will be measured by the works you have achieved.
“Winston Churchill was one of the greatest wartime leaders”. In the unqualified sense it might be stated “Winston Churchill achieved greatness within his own lifetime”, thus implying that “greatness” is a definite and identifiable quality.
Therefore, the definition of greatness is not in the amount of money you have. It is not in the job you do, and not in you being popular or famous
Greatness is a journey: Think of what you do everyday. Think of the process it involves, think about the activities, and think about the people who have travelled the same route before you. If you must be great, you would need to understand the entry requirements for greatness, and the process involved in embarking and completing a journey. A man can not be lifted up high by his own ability and power. It can not happen by the degree qualifications you have earned.
Eccl 9:11: I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happened to them all,
This simply means the requirement for greatness is not in your power. In other words, if you think it is by your power, this would lead to destiny shunting.
For your greatness not to be shunted, you must understand the plan of God and also understand the followings:
Greatness is not by age or effort: If greatness was to be by age and effort, may be David would have been the one to build the temple for the Lord. But his son Solomon was ordained to build and complete the temple. So, if you must be great in life, you must stop to think about our name, how big you are and your age. The reason is simply because the thing of the Lord defiles all principles.
For your greatness not to be thwarted, you would need to partner with God. Partnering with God means, dedication, purification, walking away from sin and also focussing on the heavenly things. In Genesis 41:31-40, the only reason why Joseph rose to the position of greatness was because, he separated himself from sin. So, my message to you today is that if God has spoken greatness into your life, please do not allow sin to tamper with it. You are where you are because the Lord wants you to be great. And your journey of greatness would not be thwarted in Jesus name.
In Genesis 37:5-11, the Lord revealed to Joseph that he would be great; however, his journey to greatness was temporarily halted by the plots of his brothers, and that of Portiphar’s wife. Rather than greatness, he lived it up in the prison. Everything that appears in your life as prison is terminated today in Jesus name.
The brothers that tried to thwart Joseph’s greatness, got into real problem and difficulty, and suddenly they had no food to eat, and because God wanted to fulfil his words in the life of Joseph. He brought them to Joseph again, to see how He “The Lord” has brought to pass, and has made the man Joseph a great man.
In Gen 41:41 – The same Joseph that was incarcerated became great and mounted up high. I pray for you that whatever the Lord has spoken concerning your life will be brought to pass in Jesus name. In Genesis 50:15-21- these same brothers of Joseph went and bowed for him.
Human ability can thwart greatness: Don’t allow your canal behaviour to thwart your greatness; Paul was a “nobody” in the books of the Apostles in those days. He was just known as a great persecutor, the one who used to kill and destroy. But when he had an encounter, he became a completely different man that even some apostles cringe when they saw him.
Greatness can be thwarted if you stop walking with the king of kings. In 2 Chronicles 5, When Solomon completed the house he built for the Lord, he dedicated it, and he reiterated that, this could only be achieved because the Lord has said it. I decree and declare that the things the Lord has spoken concerning your greatness will not go unfulfilled in Jesus name.
In 2 Chronicles 6:2 Solomon said “But I have built a house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever” 6:4 – “And he said, blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who hath with His hands fulfilled that which he spake with his own mouth to my father David. I decree and declare that everything the Lord has declared and spoken concerning your greatness will be fulfilled in Jesus name.
