You will be intoxicated with Joy in Jesus’ name

Text: 2 King 4: 8-37
Many people would automatically assume that happiness is when everything looks shiny and dazzling. Some would say to themselves, if I have a good job or a successful business, a nice house, and lots of money, I would be happy. It is absolutely true, you may be happy, and friends and families would celebrate you. However, it may not necessarily mean that your joy is full. The simple reason for this is because happiness is on the outside (external), while joy is of the heart (internal).
Intoxication is synonymous with drunkenness, and drunkenness is a consequence of drinking intoxication, a stage where someone would lose control of their senses. This is however, what is known as synthetic joy. This is because someone is spending his/her money to buy an alcoholic which can make them to become a moron in a matter of minutes.
Intoxication can also mean to become overwhelmed; or be in a state of stupor, which may cause you to loss control of yourself and behave like you have never behaved before. On the other hand Joy refers to someone not something. That someone is Jesus Christ. John15:11 states, these things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. So when you are intoxicated with joy (Jesus), it means you have received favour and mercies of the highest order. Your joy will overflow in Jesus name.
Brethren, if you have not been intoxicated with joy before, the Lord will visit you this month in Jesus name. I don’t know what situation you may have, that has been given you a heartache. It may be something in relation to your coming to a new country, and not know how to get settled, it may be something related to your visa, academics, career, health or whatsoever. It may even be something that God has settled, but has yet to manifest. In the name that is above all other names, your joy will be full, and you will be intoxicated with it in Jesus name.
Who is the giver of joy: You may be wondering how you can get this joy, to the stage of been intoxicated with it. Jesus is the giver of joy. He is the source, and He gives it freely to those who seek Him. Romans 15:13 states, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
You will realise that Jesus Christ spent His time going around talking to different people at different times. In the process of talking, He gave joy to many through healing and miracles God wants your joy to be full by solving all your issues so that you will have a peace of mind. Prov. 17:22 – A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Effect of Joy in a blessed man: Joy can make a man to start to behave in such a way that everybody would begin to wonder what exactly is making them to act strangely. In Matthew 9:27-31, the two blind men went to Jesus and said, son of David, have mercy on us. When Jesus Christ approached and made them see through the power of His words, He told them to go home, but guess what, these men went straight to the towns and cities, and began to show forth happiness. They celebrated like never before. I am sure people would be thinking they needed psychiatric treatment the way they rejoiced. This is what I call intoxication. The joy threw them around, because they never thought they would ever see again in their live, so, their joy became full than they can ever imagine.
In the text we read, 2 King 4: 8-37, the Shunamite woman had all the happiness in this world. She was wealthy, very notable and, probably a property tycoon. Even though, she dwelt amongst her own people, owned her own house, provided food for others, regarded her husband and ran a charity, yet, something was missing, she had no son. But when God was ready to fill her cup with joy, the Lord sent Prophet Elisha to dwell in her household, and a joyful message was delivered unto her. Elisha said, this time next year you shall embrace a son, which means her joy will overflow. Although, she did not understand how it was going to happen, but the scripture says in verse 17, then the woman conceived and she bore a son, when the appointed time has come for which Elisha has spoken concerning. Your appointed time is here in Jesus name.

When you overcome what everybody has thought is impossible, you become intoxicated with joy. In 1 Samuel 17:48-50, David prevailed over the uncircumcised Philistine Goliath using a sling and a stone to strike him on the forehead, the Goliath fell with his face down. David stood over the dead Goliath, full of joy and probably dancing, cut his head and took his head with him to Jerusalem; the same people that thought he was a boy and a spectator were overwhelmed with joy. Every mouth that has declared negativity to you will lose their speech when they hear about how the Lord has blessed you with all manners of joy in Jesus name. When you are intoxicated with joy, everybody will hear your testimony and they will marvel. I am not sure if you have ever received a surprise package from the Lord before, but I can guarantee you, when the news of your breakthrough gets to the city, people will be amazed, and would serve your God in Jesus name.
In Acts 9:36-42, there was a woman named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas – She performed greatly amongst friends and widows, gave alms and charity. One day, she became sick and died from her sickness. The people she had helped cried out to everyone for help. In the end, Peter came, he prayed and God answered. When this woman was brought back to life, the people became intoxicated, and went around publicising the good news. Your friend would share your good news in Jesus name.
For you to partake in this joy, you must submit your life and tell Him I am ready to follow you. You are empty without Him. Life is meaningless. So if you are looking for joy, please replace your old life with a new one. You need the Holy Spirit to come into your life, when you accept Him into your life, your cup will overflow. So brethren consider your stand before Him today, and, see how you can start to enjoy and live a joyful life. God bless.
