July 2014 Theme – Vigour and Strength for Service

Our theme for the month of July focuses on our relationship, commitment and commission to serving our Lord Jesus Christ. This month is about renewing our vigour and strength for Christ. As Christians, it is important to take stock, reflect and review our salvation and our responsibilities. Think on how the Lord has saved your soul and took away your sins. Think on how He blessed and established you. Think on the unmerited rewards and favour, and, let us measure our performance against His standards. To achieve a new level of relationship means to bring others to Christ, to evangelise more, to be ready to renew your strength and vigour. I pray the Lord will help us to achieve this level in Jesus name.
The meaning of vigour is to have an active strength or force. It is also to have physical and mental power, and the vitality to push further. If you must serve God according to His expectation, your energy level must be high, which means, you would definitely need the Holy Spirit, and you must be focussed.
In Acts 1:8, the Apostles were given the blueprints of how their ministerial journey would look like, however, they could not do it without vitality and vigour. The vigour they needed was the power of the Holy Ghost. It was after they had received the power of the Holy Ghost that, they were able to preach and evangelise in an extraordinary way.
In Judges 6: 13-14, Gideon was such a timid man, hiding in the cave, but when the power of God came upon him, he became the one that liberated the Israelites from the hands of the Midianites.
In 1 Samuel 17:45-49, David in his youth could do nothing of his own accord, but when the Holy Spirit showed up on the battle field, his vigour to conquer Goliath was renewed, and, He could see the Holy Ghost holding the head of the Goliath while he fired a stone into it. A lot of people honoured the God of David on this day.
Brethren, our friends and families, work colleagues and people around us needs to meet Jesus Christ. Therefore, we need to evangelise more, serve Him more, dedicate ourselves more and move the church of God forward. To be able to reach out and preach the message unto others, you need the power of God. Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Also, the book of Zech 4:6 teaches us that, it is not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” The Lord will grant you more strength and vigour for His service in this month of July in Jesus name.
