Reflecting on the Great and Astonishing Report

By Pastor Aderemi ADELUGBA,
Mark 5:21
I would like to wish all the fathers and the fathers-to-be a happy Father’s day. This is our opportunity to reflect, share and showcase the great things the Lord has done for us, how He has kept us, blessed us, and performed miracles in our life.

The role of a father is unlimited. The Lord has made you a good father; He has made you a leader, and, the Lord will perform great things in your life in Jesus name. The role of a father is to protect, support, and impact moral values upon their children.
Another thing a father does is to seek solutions to problems, and, to seek the face of God in any situation. I pray you will not be distressed, when you are supposed to be seeking the face of God in Jesus name.

In our text Mark 5:1-42, we saw how Jairus went to present the report of his daughter’s illness to Jesus Christ. We understand from the scripture that Jairus approached Jesus Christ amidst the multitude of people, and he fell flat for Him, simply because, as a father, he was conscious of his role to help save his daughter from dying. His number one obligation was one of protection. He realised that his ability to protect his daughter was beyond him, because she was at the verge of death.

As a father, can your position bring solution to problem? Jairus was so enlightened. He was so capable, powerful, influential leader in the Synagogue, but his power could save nobody. The question today is, do you think you can solve the problems for your family members by virtue of your leadership, influence and position? Your position cannot bring healing, cannot bring joy and cannot bring happiness to your family. You need to trust God all the time. In trusting him, your great and astonishing testimony would come.

Jairus saw Jesus as the father of all and as a healer: Have you thought of why Jesus came? Have you thought of how to be a better father? Jairus looked at his position, and the state of his daughter’s illness, and realised, he would require a divine healer. He thought deeply and, went to look for Jesus Christ, and the Lord changed the destiny of his daughter. A good father would do away with ego. They would look at the bigger picture and recognise the power of a superior helper, who is able to do something astonishing.

Do you have the confidence to stand by what the Lord has done: Jesus Christ can move in an astonishing way to bring solution. You only need to trust and obey. In Mark 5:35-36
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Mark 5:35-36, people were coming around to test Jairus’ faith, and to give him the bad reports that, the sick daughter was dead. Rather than getting worried, he was praying and trusting and possibly thinking of the song he would sing for his testimony. So, whose report would you believe? As you would start to believe the report of the Lord, nothing shall be impossible for you in Jesus name.

Stand in the place of prayer: Jairus stood and persisted. The fact is, some fathers have lost their place in the sight of God. But a day like this is an opportunity to retrace your steps back to the Lord. Jairus witnessed the healing of the woman with the issue of blood. He needed his own testimony; he was not going to return to a dead child, and the Lord gave him an astonishing testimony.

Father’s must know Jesus: If we must be a perfect example of a good father, you as a fathers must be born again. You must know how to call on your God. And not just that, you must also train and bring up your children in the ways of the Lord, so that you can rejoice over the great and astonishing testimony the Lord is bringing your way.

In conclusion, as we celebrate the Father’s day today, I pray you will become a better father in Jesus name. You will learn to rely more on Jesus Christ for solutions and the Lord will bless your life. Also, as we go out for Tour de Tang Hall community Outreach today, the Lord will touch the heart of men, and He will make them to submit unto Himself regardless of their status, and personality in Jesus name. They will learn about Christ and submit to Him, like Jairus the ruler of Synagogue submitted to Christ in Jesus name.
