The Theme of the month of September is Season of Renewal as spoken by God through His Prophet.
The Bk of Isa 43:19 says ‘Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
When God says He will do a new thing believe it because He will do it, He is not a man that He should lie, He has declared this month a season of renewal, believe it and it shall surely come to pass in Jesus name.
The Bible says in the Bk of Acts 1:17 ‘ And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his power.
NCV says, ‘The Father is the only One who has the authority to decide dates and times, these things are not for you to know.
It is not in our power to know the dates and the times that God has set in place but for us to believe that it will come to pass and expect and wait patiently for the promises to come to pass in our lives because we know that God can’t fail and will never fail in Jesus name.
In the Bk of Hab. 2:3 it says ‘For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie, though it tarry, wait for it, because It will surely come, it will not tarry.
Has The Lord promised you something, write it down, make it plain, remind yourself of the promises everyday, expect it to happen, wait patiently for it, watching and praying and when it does happen it is always beautiful to the Glory of God.
My prayer for someone here today is that as you delight yourself in The Lord, He will grant you your heart’s desire according to His will in Jesus name.
I decree, may The Lord not pass you by in this season of renewal in Jesus name.
Text: Mark 10:46-52
We always say Blind Bartimaeus, but he is not blind anymore to the Glory of God.
I would like us to examine the sequence of events in this Bible verses that we have just read that led Bartimaeus to his miracle on this day, the things he did that caused The Good Lord not to pass him by on the day his season of renewal came knocking at the door of his faith.
Brethren there is always a day like no other day in the life of everyone.
In the Bk of Jos. 10:12 the Bible said when the day was coming to an end Joshua was still fighting against The Amelikites, the war was not yet over, Joshua spoke to the sun, thou sun stand still in Gibeon and thou moon in the valley of Ajalon, and the Bible recorded that the sun and the moon obeyed and that there was no day like that day before or after it that The Lord hearkened unto the voice of man.
1) verse 46 ( The Bible recorded that Our Lord Jesus and His disciples went out of Jericho (they were passing by)
The Bible says in Ecc. 3:1 ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
It was recorded in heaven that Jesus would be passing by Jericho on that particular day and time, and some body called Bartimeaus was going to be favoured.
Just like it has been recorded in heaven that you and I will be in church today and as Jesus is passing by we will be favoured in Jesus Mighty name.
Brethren may we not be in the wrong place at the wrong time, rather at the right place at the right time.
May we not be told Ah! You have just missed Him, if you were here a minute earlier, you would have met Him here. It will not be our portion in Jesus name.
2) verse 47 ( And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth) not just anyone but The Son of God Himself, The Great Healer.
The Bible says in the Bk of 1 Chron. 12:32 NCV ‘ There were 200 leaders from Issachar, they knew what Israel should do, and they knew the right time to do it.
KJV (they had the understanding of the times)
Blind Bartimeaus was able to discern the season like the sons of Issachar, he was blind but his hearing was sound for he was able to hear that Jesus the son of David was passing by, therefore his season of renewal had come, his set time to be favoured had come and he was determined that nothing was going to make him lose out.
My prayer for us is that we will not lose out on any of God’s promises and blessings for us in Jesus name.
3) verse 47b (He began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou Son of David have mercy on me).
Brethren before change can come we need to lift our voices and cry out to The One that can cause change to happen in our lives, do not keep quiet, the Bible says in Matt. 7:7 ask and ye shall receive. Yet it says in John 15:24 until now you have not asked anything in my name, it says ask and you will receive so that your joy might be full.
They say a closed mouth is a closed destiny.
4) verse 48 (And many charged him that he should hold his peace, but he cried the more a great deal. Thou Son of David, have mercy on me).
Brethren we must not look or listen to distractions around us when our season of change and renewal comes.
Remember Elisha in the Bk of 2Kings 2 when his master Elijah was going to be taken to heaven by God, the sons of the prophet and even his master tried to distract and dissuade him from receiving his desire, a double portion of the spirit of God upon his master but he made up his mind not to give in to any distraction and in the end because he was focused and he persevered, he received his desire, and the same son’s of the prophets that tried to dissuade him came to bow to him when they perceived that the spirit of God upon his master Elijah was now resting on him.
In the case of Bartimeaus it was the same people that tried to silence him, were the same people that said to him ‘Be of good comfort, rise, he called thee.’
5) verse 50 (And he, casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus’).
The Bible says in Heb. 12:1 (‘Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witness. Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin, which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us’).
For Bartimeaus that garment he cast away represented something in his life, it was like a hindrance, an obstacle in his way of receiving his miracle and he was determined that he was not going to allow the weight hinder him of his breakthrough.
Jesus might never pass his way again and that might have meant he might have died blind.
Everyone of us here knows that weight and the sin that easily besets us.
For some people it is food, phone, clothes, sleep, laziness, being careless, bad company (evil associations), procrastination, gossip, Brethren the list is endless.
6) Be specific, say exactly what you want The Lord to do for you,
Remember the man with an infirmity for 38yrs. at the pool of Bethesda in John 5:1-5 he began to tell stories when Jesus asked him, do you want to be made whole. Thank God for the mercies of God because Our Lord Jesus overlooked his lack of faith and healed him on that day.
Blind Bartimeaus went straight to the point in verse 51 when Jesus asked him what can I do for you, he said ‘Lord, that I might receive my sight’. He asked in the name of Jesus and his joy was made full.
May our Father in heaven help us all in Jesus name.
May He not pass us by in Jess name.
May another not take our place on the day of our honour because we are nowhere to be found in Jesus name.
May our ministering angels not take our blessings back because we are not found occupying our duty post in the place where God wants us to be in Jesus name.
