Marked For Grace, by Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye

One of the meanings of grace from the Oxford English Dictionary is ‘unearned favour especially from God. Grace is un-merited favour (un-merited mercy) bestowed on someone, not because of what they have done but because it pleased God as it were to bestow it upon that person.

Grace can be equated to as an un-requested blessing; because this is a blessing you have not prayed for neither has it entered your heart to request it from God. A very good example of such a Blessing is the salvation of our souls. I do not think that before we all got Born-Again, that it was a prayer request for us to be Born-again, maybe family members or friends would have made this prayer request to God on our behalf, but certainly not by ourselves.
The Bible says in Titus 2:11 ‘For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men’.
Yet again the Bible says in Eph. 2:8-9 ‘for by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works lest any man should boast.’
So Brethren to start us off, that is a good example of an Un-requested Blessing from God and that I believe is the foundation of receiving many more un-requested blessings from God in this Month of August 2016 and Beyond in Jesus Mighty Name.

Our first e.g. of someone marked for grace, someone that God blessed with a Blessing he did not request for is taken from the Book of 1 Sam. 16: 1-13.
Jesse had 8 sons but for whatever reason best known to him he forgot his 8th son when Prophet Samuel came to his house to anoint a King for Israel as instructed by God.
David was in the wilderness keeping the sheep that belonged to his family, he was performing a duty on behalf of his family but on the day of his grace his family forgot him, but do you know Brethren heaven did not forget David.
My prayer for you is that on the day of your grace heaven will not forget you in Jesus name.

David was about his business, he loved the Lord with all his heart because God Himself testified when He said in Acts 13:22 ‘And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their King, to whom also he gave their testimony and said I have found David the son of Jesse a man after my own heart.
In other words Brethren God was saying I have found a man that speaks, acts, thinks and behaves like me, like Father like Son.
May the Lord testify of us in the same manner in Jesus name. David knew his God, Dan. 11:32b ‘Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits for Him’. In the book of 1 Sam. 17: 37, 45-47 David was able to introduce His God to Goliath of Gath.

Brethren at most David would have thought and prayed that God would make him a Great Shepherd, a Great Warrior, but I do not thinks he would have been praying that God should crown him the King of Israel.
Brethren no matter where you are as long as it is where the Lord wants you to be, grace will come looking for you. No matter how hidden you might be the grace of God will locate you in Jesus name.

Brethren most importantly God is the one to choose the time to grace you where he has placed you. Many times as Human beings, we get so tired and frustrated that we wish the calendar of our progress, promotion and prosperity could be fast forwarded.
It does not work out that way. Things must be done according to Divine order.
When God felt it was time for David to be crowned with grace, he instructed Prophet Samuel to go all the way to Jesse’s house to anoint him.

Our second e.g. is taken from Luke 1: 5-20, Brethren here we find Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth, righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless, But Brethren there was a but in their lives, they had no child. Elizabeth was barren and the Bible made us understand further that they were well stricken in years, that means in medical terms menopause had set in for Elizabeth, but Brethren Luke 1:37 says nothing shall be impossible with our God.
What a reproach it would have been for Zacharias and his wife. People would have labelled them with all sorts of names, even the heathen would have said, “All these years of serving their God faithfully they have nothing to show for it”. But in spite of all the shame, ridicule and reproach they were still fervent in their walk with God and their work for God. They did not relent even into old age.
Their day of grace finally came, their day of receiving a blessing that they had prayed and forgotten about, Brethren at the time the blessing came it was an un-requested blessing because at that stage in their lives they had given up hope. But the Bible says in Eccl. 3; 11 That God makes everything beautiful in His own time. It was un-believable for Zacharias because even the Bible said in Luke 1: 18 ‘And Zacharias said unto the angel, whereby shall I know this for I am an old man and my wife is well stricken in years. And because he doubted and did not believe he was made dumb until the child was born and was about to be named in the temple.
What an un-requested blessing it was for Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth, a child of Destiny, a child that was great in the sight of the Lord, the one that came to prepare the way for the Lord. There is a saying that goes thus ‘the best is saved for the last. Are you thinking “when will my time come?”, the Lord says I should tell you that your time to be graced has come in Jesus Name. Your set time to be favoured of the Lord has come in Jesus name. Your time to enjoy un-requested blessings from the Lord God Almighty has come in Jesus name.
