How to move out of the cave

By Pastor Aderemi Adelugba, —–
Cave is described as a hollow or natural passage under the earth. Cave can be used as a storage cellar under the building. Cave is a not conducive dwelling for a man. For examples, rats may be found in caves and the rest of that, but when a man begins to live in the cave, that is considered to be a serious problem, and this would be tantamount to bondage. If any man is in this situation, they need to plan their exit route. They need to relocate and climb out by God’s divine power. You will not dwell in the cave in Jesus name.
Some people may have been dwelling at the same spot for years, settled for the lowest of jobs, and possibly allowed themselves to become complacent, some may not have thought, how they ended up there. God wants to use this message to provoke your thoughts, and He will move you out in Jesus name.
A well known author named John Maxwell said “It’s true that you can not begin the success journey until you know where you want to go. But you also can’t be successful until you know where you are starting. Both pieces of information are necessary to make the trip”
Our case study today is Gideon in the Judges 6 & 7. The Lord will use this message to prepare us to move out of every cave and stagnancy in Jesus name. The background to this story was that, after Joshua led the Israelites to occupy the Promised Land, they continued in obedience, but following his death, they rebelled and turned away from the Lord.
In Judges 6: 1-3, And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hands of Midianites for seven years. And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains,
The importance of this passage is that, the Israelites were subjected to serious hold up in the cave as a result of their sinful way. Everything was shut off; they feared the Midianites, even though the Midianites were not up to them in number by any standard, yet, they were confined to the cave. God was prepared to rescue them from the cave; and he reached out to Gideon for this purpose.
For your rescue mission to commence out of the cave, you must:
Embrace the challenge – Your background does not matter to God. You do not have to be popular to embrace challenge for promotion. Your financial status does not matter to God. Gideon was raised to lead the Israelites out of this bondage. He gave excuses. He talked about not being the most qualified person to be used of God. He states, he was the least in his father’s house, and his family was poor in Manasseh. Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress. Your winepress and the job you have now could be your best satisfaction; God wants you to step out in faith. Normally, wheat is threshed in an open area, but because of condition, Gideon was practising this trade in the hiding below the cave. Winepress is a small area where people press the wheat – You are bigger than that, start to step out, embrace the commission, prepare for the take off, and fulfil destiny.
Learn how to cry unto the Lord always: It is not possible to walk or move without God. For 7 years, their accommodation was within the cave, until one day in Judges 6: 6, when the children of Israel prayed and cried unto the Lord. The scripture states the Lord sent a Prophet. God wants to take you out of your settlement today, as this month is the month of great strides, begin to pray and the Lord will hear you and strengthen your feet in Jesus name. The scripture states: if my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves, then will I hear them. The Lord will listen to your prayer and send helpers to you in Jesus name.
Understand that your obedience will kick start your escape from the cave: The Prophet was charged to deliver the message of hope, and reminded them of how they have fallen short of the grace of God due to their disobedience. When God’s people disobey Him, they receive the reward of disobedience. God wanted them to realise that it was Him who was watching over them and protecting them and that they needed to trust in Him.
Avoid Excuses and receive boldness: Boldness is required if you must take the first step. In Matthew 14: 22-33, when Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he charged him, and recognised him as the Lord and he said to Him, Ask me to come, and I will come, You need boldness to be able to walk on water. You must key into the same faith and boldness exercised by Peter. Stop talking about what took you there; avoid all sorts of excuses that would not make you to come out of the cave. Joshua 6:16: The Lord said to Gideon, I will surely be with thee, and thou shall smite the Midianites as one man.
Understand that victory can only be by God’s power and not number: In Judges 7:1 – And the Lord said to Gideon, the people that are with thee are too many to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunts themselves against me, saying Mine own hands have saved me… There were about 32000 men who came along to support Gideon in the battle against the Midianites, but God said, I only need few. This is because, the horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD (Prove 21:31). Its not by power, its not by might that you will prevail in the battles that is facing you in 2014, the Lord will fight your battles and silence your oppressors in Jesus name. God said, I only need 300 people to go forward with you, and my power will do the job. This 2014, you will come out of every caves and move swiftly to your greatness in Jesus name.
Start to act to receive your victory: Start climbing the ladder to come out of the cave. Victory was revealed to Gideon when he started to act. He got the revelation of victory in Judges 7: 9-11, during that night the Lord said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. 10 If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah 11 and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp……
Start walking the walk not just talking the talk – In conclusion, following planning and prayer, there must be physical movement. You will need to make a move. A great stride is all about movement with the power of God. The Lord has set your feet upon high, begin to move forward. Gideon asked for God’s help. He saw the evidence, and he received the commission. He tried out his Army members like the military would be trained in the Defence Academy. He made a move and from that day onward, they stopped living in the cave. You will come out of captivity, and, you will walk into your destiny in Jesus name.
