Go, and the Lord be with thee
—- By Pastor Aderemi ADELUGBA,
January is our month of Great Strides. The meaning of strides is to take a step in walking towards an aim, and to make significant progress in that journey. Taking these steps requires considerable speed and determination. This month, your journey to your destination will not be terminated, you will move with great strides, and the Lord will be with you in Jesus name
God has spoken concerning your destination, and as you have great plans and aspirations, God wants you to go now, and He will be with you. You will move forward and finish your journey in Jesus name. Deuteronomy 1:6-8 states, the Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: 7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. 8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
In Genesis 11:31 -32: And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. 32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
Terah started a journey; he had big plans and aspirations. His initial plan was to go from Ur of the Chaldees, and go to the land of Canaan. He took all his family members with him. But guess what? Terah got to Haran and stopped there. Terah’s destination was Canaan, but the bible states, and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there, and he died there. Terah settled down half way. May be it was a result of tiredness, or lack of strides and power. He did not reach his destination. You will not die in the middle of the road this month in Jesus’ name.
Haran was meant to be a bus stop (like a Service on the motorway). Yes, there is nothing wrong in stopping to refresh at a place like Haran and review your plan. But anytime you stop and settle at Haran, there is a problem.
Abram, on the other hand, received a message from God, and the instruction was for him to leave his settlement, and proceed to a bigger place. In Genesis 12:1, the scripture states, now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee. The instruction to Abram was clear – Get Thee Out. God want you to begin to move, and accomplish that which your family could not achieve, move forward with great strides. God wants you to leave everything that has pinned your life down at Haran, and, those that have retarded your speed last year, and begin to make great strides. God says, Get Thee Out and begin to make progress.
Abram has a journey, and each and every one of us has a journey we must embark upon. There can never be a better time to embark on those journeys than now.
There are 7 things God will do for you as you make new strides this month –
Gen 12: 2-3 And I will make of thee a great nation, I will bless thee, Make thy name great; thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, Curse him that curseth thee: thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
The indication from above is that, God has called you to go, His eyes will go with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will bring you to safe destination. God wants to make you a blessing as you journey through this month, but you must move with speed.
In 1 Samuel 17: 1-51, we saw how Goliath threatened the Israelites. David heard all the threats and thought he needed to make a move at the enemy. You will receive the same ability to face your Goliath this year in Jesus name.
Running with speed and power: For 40 days, the Philistines confronted the Israelites, but one day, somebody had to be sent forth to the battle front, and they must need to run with great strides. In 1 Samuel 7:17 And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp unto thy brethren. Jesse emphasized the need for David to run. Another example was when David hastened and ran with speed toward the army 1 Samuel 17:48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. David’s feet were hastened and he ran with speed. Your feet will be hastened in Jesus name.
Go, with God’s Power: Initially, Saul failed to recognise the power and the anointing David was carrying upon his life, and he thought to himself, David could not fight such a big fight, until David shared His testimony about the extraordinary power of God in 1 Samuel 17:37 … And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
Don’t take a rest too early: You will not die in Haran in Jesus name; don’t take a rest too early. You need to recognise that early in the morning is the time to go to work, so begin to flourish and complete your journey this month.
Go, and recover lost opportunities: In 1 Samuel 30: 8 -19, And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. The same David received the power and strength to make great strides. The Amalekites have been running for many days. David went after them, and he recovered all they stole from his camp. I don’t know the journey you are embarking upon this month, the Lord will go with thee and hasten your feet like David in Jesus name.
As individual, let us begin to make progress in our individual ambitions, and as a church, we need to launch out and do more evangelism, proclaim the message of salvation unto the people in the City of York. We need to re-evaluate our mandate to bring people with us to heaven. We need the speed of God to make great strides. Let us, with prayer and supplication review our plans for 2014, and move forward and God will help us in Jesus name.
