Faith in God a necessary ingredient in possessing our new grounds
By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia OBAFAIYE —–
The Theme of the month of September is Possessing New Grounds as spoken by God through his Prophet. Faith according to Hebrews 11:1 ‘is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:6 further makes us to understand something very important, it says ‘But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God) for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. This is the very foundation of our Christian faith. We can also tie this scripture to Matthew 6:33, Brethren we cannot seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness if do not love or trust Him.
The definition of faith is a hard saying and it can only take the help & inspiration of the Holy Spirit to understand and believe it word for word.
New grounds on the other hand could mean different things for many people. It might be a change of career, a new line of business, starting a new business, going back to school, buying a new car, a new house, a new home for those of us that are trusting God for a husband or wife, it could be trusting God for the fruit of the womb, it could be trusting God to pass a professional exam.
God promised us at the inception of this year that He will do new things; He stated further that the year 2014 is our year of an overflowing of God’s blessing.
God Almighty said to the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 1:6, 8 ‘Ye have dwelt long enough on this mountain.’ Verse 8 ‘Behold, I have set the land before you, go in and possess the land.
You will possess your new grounds in Jesus name.
Psalm 68:19 says ‘Blessed be The Lord, who daily loaded us with benefits, even the God of our sal-vation.
Whatever might represent a new ground to you, needs your faith in God to be activated before you can possess it. We need to be in total agreement with God at all times by choosing to obey His commandments totally.
I have come to announce to you today that if your faith in God is not wavering or shaking then you will possess your new grounds in Jesus name.
James 1:6-8 says ‘But let him ask in faith, not wavering. For he that wavered is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man thinks that he shall receive anything of The Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
If we are believing and trusting God for His blessing in our lives, then we need to totally trust in Him, believing that He has never failed and he cannot fail. As old as God is He can never change. As long as we are not asking amiss out of God’s perfect will it will surely come to pass. We must not give up on God because He will never give up on us.
Our Father Abraham is a very good example of someone who had total trust in God. He is called the Father of all nations, the Father of faith. Brethren he does not bear these names just for nothing. The Bible says in Genesis 15:6 ‘And Abraham believed in The Lord and He counted it to him for righteousness. The Books of Romans 4:3 and Galatians 3:6 repeated the same scripture we have just read.
From the Book of Genesis 12 to Genesis 25 we can read an account of Abraham’s life (his walk with God and his work for God). In Genesis 12:1-3 He was called out of Idol worshipping by a God he had not seen before, who said to him Abram, get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred and from thy Father’s house, and unto a land that I will shew thee. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. The Bible says in Genesis 12:4 ‘So Abram departed, as The Lord had spoken unto him (in other words from a lay man’s perception or understanding, God was saying leave your comfort zone and plunge into uncertainties).
Abraham did not question God, he did not have any doubt in his mind about all God had told him. He believed and obeyed God’s instruction to him. He did not consult with either flesh or spirit.
When he went through trials on his journey of life, this same faith he had in God sustained him.
At 75 yrs. God promised him a son; the promise came through after 25yrs of waiting when he was 100 yrs. old.
The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:3 ‘For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie, though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
You are here today, God has promised you something but in your mind, you are thinking, has He forgotten me, or you are thinking He is too slow in bringing the promise to come to pass.
I have good news for you; He said in His word, I will make everything beautiful in my own time.
He says I will do a new thing in your life and every ear that hears what he will do in your life will tingle, because they have never heard such before.
He says he will put laughter in your mouth and all that hear you laugh will laugh with you. That was the testimony of Mama Sarah when God blessed them with Isaac (which means laughter).
I declare that God will bless you with your own laughter in Jesus name.
When Isaac (Abraham & Sarah’s laughter) was about 16 yrs. old God asked him in Genesis 22:1-2 ‘And it came to pass after these things that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham and he said, Behold, here I am. And He said, take now thy son, thine only son Isaac (your laughter and your joy) whom thou loves, and get thee into the land of Moriah and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Father Abraham yet again believed God and he said Yes Sir without questioning God, he did not even consult with his wife Mama Sarah. The Lord will help us in Jesus name. He said something remarkable to his servant in Genesis 22:5 ‘Abide ye here with the ass and I and the lad will go yon-der and worship, and come again to you.’ Even when his son asked him a question in verse 7 Abra-ham answered and said My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.’
Brethren they say God has favorites; His favorites are those that have faith in Him, those that fear Him, those that obey His commandments totally.
I want to be counted amongst His favourites in Jesus name. I pray the same for you, may you be counted amongst God’s favourites in Jesus name.
The seed of Abraham through Isaac was blessed and established because of his faith in God and total obedience to His word (commandments & instructions).
King Saul arrantly disobeyed God’s instruction twice, the first time by offering a sacrifice that Prophet Samuel was supposed to offer because of the people and then secondly when he spared King Agag’s (The Amalekites) life and brought some of the animals that were supposed to be utterly destroy. Prophet Samuel told him in 1Samuel 13:13 ‘Thou hast done foolishly, thou hast not kept the commandment of The Lord, thy God, which he commanded thee, for now would The Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever’.
God re-affirmed His promise to Abraham in Genesis 12: 1-3 after he passed the test of being asked to sacrifice his son Isaac, the one he loved in Genesis 22:16-18
We are all the seed of Abraham because Abraham obeyed the voice of God.
My prayer for us all is that as we exercise our total trust and faith in God and as we obey Him total-ly, we will possess our new grounds in Jesus name. I declare by the grace and mercies of God an-other will not take your rightful place in Jesus name. All you need is faith as a mustard seed.
