Empowerment For Service, by Pastor Victor Olobaniyi

Empowerment For Service, by Pastor Victor Olobaniyi
TEXT : ACTS 1: 8 , 2: 1 – 4.
We shall be considering two words from our text of today.
Power (Dunamis) also means Authority.
Witnesses which can also be interpreted as Ambassadors.
Jesus said in Luke 2:49, they should tarry in Jerusalem until they are endured with power , which is very necessary/pivotal if we must be successful in ministry or service as the case may be.

It may be important to even consider that Jesus did not start His ministry in full, until there was confirmation from heaven, after His baptism in river Jordan. Matt 3:16 – 17. Luke 4 :1,14, went further to confirm the aftermath of the Holy Ghost baptism.

Acts 10:37 – 38, stress the importance and reason for Holy Ghost empowerment, and this also confirms that for the Holy Ghost to manifest fully, the gospel must be preached.

The Apostles were able to do signs and wonders as confirmed in Acts 5:12, 2:43, because after they were empowered, they went out preaching the good news.

Stephen in Acts 6:1- 8 ,after empowerment and preaching was able to do wonders and miracles.
Peter after empowerment in Acts 2:14 – 41, became a different person entirely that denied Jesus Christ couple of days before then. Acts 4:4 said Peter preached one sermon again and 5,000 men believed. So in other words empowerment cast away FEAR.

Phillip in Acts 8:5 – 8 was recorded that after empowerment he brought great joy to the people of Samaria, by preaching the Word and many were set free from bondages many miracles were done through him by the Holy ghost..
The book of Acts 19:10 -12 gave us the account of how Paul preached the word of God, after being empowered, it was recorded that God wrought special/unusual miracles by the hands of Paul.

It may be necessary to know at this point that, for a ministry to come to full fleshed, there is undoubtedly the need for, one, empowerment from the Holy Spirit and two, the preaching of the Word of God.

Acts 4:33, also confirms that empowerment brings great grace upon the carrier.
My prayer is that we shall be fully empowered today and we shall go out there as recorded in the book of Isaiah 61:1 – 3 and Luke 4:18, preach the good news and fulfil the work the good Lord has committed into our hands in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
