Text : 1 Corinthians 12 vs 4 – 10, Romans 12 vs 3 – 8.
The gift of the Holy Spirit is given by God to an individual so as to give liberty to the individual, the church and the society at large.
First of all, it tends to benefit the recipient, then spills over to the church and then the society as it were.
Prov 18 vs 16 says a man’s gift will make room for him and bringeth him before great men (Access to important people).
As God permits we shall be considering the various gifts of the Holy Spirit that God endowed us with so as to live a life of total liberty from all forms of trials, challenges and such likes, as Jesus Christ did when He came in the human form.
There are three categories of Spiritual gifts
1. MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS 1 Cor 12 vs 4.
2. MINISTRY GIFTS 1 Cor 12 vs 5.
3. MANIFESTATION GIFTS 1 Cor 12 vs 6.
The motivational gift is how God works in a believer to shape his perspective on life and motivate his words and actions. Rom12 vs 6 – 8.
The 7 motivational gifts include –
Prophecy, Ministering, Teaching, Exhortation, Giving, Ruling, Mercy. Romans 12 vs 6 – 8.
Prophecy (prophets). The prophet is a spokesperson for God. he admonishes, warns, directs, encourages, intercedes, teaches and counsels.
Ministering (serving). These ones tend to guard against slothfulness.
Teaching (teachers). Steer us clear of heresy
Exhorting (exhorters). They tend to watch out for hopelessness.
Giving (givers). They stand against selfishness.
Ruling (rulers/ organisers) ward of chaos.
Mercy (mercy- givers) they demonstrate God’s tender love.
It may worth knowing that as a child of God you are endowed with at least one of these gifts, and this is giving to enable you to live the right life that God expects from you.
Discovering your gift(s) is very key and essential if only you want to live the perfect life God intended for you.
Trying to operate in another person’s gifting leads to frustration and envy, so the need to discover your gift(s), which will make life very easy for you and you do things effortlessly with the help of God.
To be continued.
