Obedience Guarantee’s Jehovah’s Manifest Presence

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia OBAFAIYE –
The Theme of the month of August is Jehovah’s manifest presence as spoken by God through His prophet.
The Bible says in the book of Pro. 16:7 (That when the ways of a man pleases God, He makes his enemies to be at peace with him).
King David even put it in a better way in Psa. 41:11 (By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
Brethren there is something about the presence of God in a man’s life, Psa. 16:11 ( You make known to me the path of life, in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.)
The presence of God brings Joy, peace, love, unity, wisdom, guidance, protection, victory, prosperity, fruitfulness, cleansing, the list Brethren is endless.
But the presence of God comes with a condition to be fulfilled by His children (Deut. 28:1-14), the Bible says ‘The steps of a good man is ordered by the Lord’. The man in this context is good not because God is ordering his steps but because he allowed God to order his step, The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want, The Lord is only Shepard’s to sheep not goats. He says in His word that He is The Good Shepard, He knows His sheep by name and his sheep knows Him, he says when he calls they hear Him and the voice of a stranger they will not follow. The Lord will help us in Jesus name.
Brethren the condition to be fulfilled is obedience, as long as we obey His voice, His command, His word, His will, everything will work out all together for good for us.
Total obedience to God in everything guarantee’s His Manifest presence in our lives.
Our main text will be taken from the Books of Jonah Chapter 1, 2, & 3 we will just be reading a few verses from each Chapter.
A very interesting Prophet of God I must say, The Bible says in the Book of Rom. 10:15 ‘And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things’
Verse17 says ‘So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God’
I want to believe that God created and brought Prophet Jonah to the earth for the city of Nineveh, that was his Divine purpose on earth, to preach the gospel to the people of Nineveh and to win them over to the kingdom of God, through repentance, because after that episode with the city of Nineveh we did not hear about him anymore.
May you and I fulfil our Divine purpose and destiny in Jesus name.
Prophet Jonah almost lost it because of disobedience.
The Bible says God commanded him to go to that great city and cry against it for their wickedness is come up before him.

Ezekiel 3:18 -19
The Bible says that it is not the desire of God that any man should perish, but that he repent and turn away from his evil ways.
‘When I say unto the wicked that thou shalt surely die, and thou givest him not warning nor speaketh to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, the same man shall die in his iniquities but his blood will I require at thine hand. But if you warn him, his blood will be on his own head, if he does not repent and turn away from his evil ways.
So it was a direct command from God but just like so many of us will do Jonah had condemned the city of Nineveh in his heart without giving them a chance to repent. He did not want to show mercy as he had received mercy from God, the Bible says in James 2:3 ‘Mercy rejoiceth over judgement’
The Bible says he went down to Joppa and he found a ship going to Tarshish and he paid the fare and went down to it from the presence of God.
The Bible says in the Bk of Pro. 14:12 ‘There is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end there of are ways of death’

Brethren that was a very dangerous thing Jonah did, to flee from the presence of God, to disobey his command. Jonah from then was like an accident waiting to happen and because of his disobedience a lot of people almost lost their lives, innocent ones that had no idea what Jonah had done.
The Titanic that set sail from Southhampton to New York in the USA in 1912. Before it set sail the Architect of the Titanic was interviewed by the press and they asked him a question about the Titanic sinking, and he answered and said even God cannot sink the Titanic and Brethren I want to believe it was the blaspheming against God that sunk the Titanic ( the Architect in his pride and boasting actually never even remembered that the ship was built with steel and not wood) and a lot of people lost their lives because of one man’s foolish idle words. It will not be our portion in Jesus name, we will not be caught up in other people’s mistakes in Jesus name. They say when 2 elephants fight it is the grass that suffers.
The presence of God is so very important to a child of God, the absence of the presence of God in the life of a child of God is like the absence of oxygen in the life of a man, he just cannot breathe.
The Bible recorded in 2Sam.6: 1- that when Uzzah was stroke by God because the oxen that carried the ark of God to the city of David shook and he stretched his hand to stop the ark from falling. When King David heard what had happened he became troubled and he commanded that the ark be kept in the house of Obededom the Gittite.
Brethren death was brought to that man’s house but because he fulfilled the conditions of sustaining the presence of God (because the ark of God was likened to the presence of God in the Old Testament) the Bible recorded that for 3 months Obededom and his household prospered like they had never done before, and when King David heard this he said to himself I want it back, I want the presence of God back and he began to wait on The Lord as to how the ark of God would be brought back to the city of David where it belonged.

Brethren in 1 Sam.4: 17- 18 it was not the announcement of the deaths of Eli’s sons ( Phinehas & Hophni) that killed him but the news that the ark of God had been taken by their enemies The Philistines. It was the Glory of God, the manifest presence of Jehovah that had been taken away from Israel that caused him to fall, break his neck and he died.
Anytime the children of Israel went to war and the ark of God was brought into the camp, there was always great rejoicing and when the enemies heard them, they knew that the presence of their God had come to fight for them and their enemies always become afraid.
Say to your neighbour, The presence of God brings victory, may the presence of God be with you always in Jesus name.
My prayer for us is that the manifest presence of God shall never depart from us in Jesus name.
Peradventure you have offended God receive the grace to run back to Him and make your ways right before Him. Jonah did something amazing in Jonah 2: 1- 10 he lifted his voice and cried unto God towards His Holy temple from the belly of the whale after being there for 3 days & 3 nights, God heard, forgave him and He spoke to the fish and it vomited Jonah upon the dry land unhurt.
2 Cor. 10:6 ‘ Our disobedience cannot be punished except we complete our obedience’
Am I speaking to someone here today, The Lord says he is waiting for your complete obedience so he can punish the disobedience and set you free.
Jonah learnt the hard way because he still had to go to Nineveh (Jonah 3:1-4) to preach to them like God had commanded him the first time.
The Bible says in Psa 62:11 ‘Once has God spoken, twice have I heard this that all power belongs to God’
It is for God to speak once and it is for us to hear expressly and obey to the very last letter, for us to retain His manifest presence.
Jonah had no business on that ship to Tarshish, he had no business in the belly of the whale, if he had obeyed the first time, the manifest presence of God would have been with him and his journey would have been smooth sailing.
In the case of Jonah he was given a second chance, God might not deal with another person the same way. We need to be very careful when it comes to the things that please and displease God. Obedience is better than sacrifice (Jonah tried to sacrifice himself when he told the ship merchants to throw him over board and the ship will be calm because he was the cause of all their troubles) , King David was given another chance but King Saul was not. Obedience will stop us from praying some prayers and crying some tears. Total Obedience to God helps us to seek after God the Giver and not the gift.
King David understood the importance of the manifest presence of God in his life, when he tried to make his ways right before God after sleeping with Uriah’s wife and killing Uriah in Psa. 51:11-12 ‘Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with thy free spirit.
May The Lord God Almighty bless us and may His presence always be with us and grant us rest on all sides in Jesus name.

I bring you good tidings of great joy

By PASTOR (MRS) ANTHONIA OBAFAIYE –

Brethren please can you turn to your neighbour and say to him or her ‘Neighbour the Lord God Almighty brings you Good tidings of great joy today in Jesus name.

The Bible says in the Book of Luke 1:45 ‘And blessed is she that believed for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord’.

Read Joel 2: 21- 27

Brethren our Father is not a man that he should lie, if He says it then He will do it and if He has spoken it He will make it good in our lives in Jesus name.

The month of December 2012 has been declared a month of Latter Rains by God Almighty through his Prophet as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Our main Bible Passage will be taken from the book of Luke 2: 10-20

My prayer for someone here this morning is that you will hear a new that will cause you to glorify and praise God in Jesus Mighty Name.

I also declare in the name of Jesus that if your enemies have decreed that you will not hear that news then they will hear a sound from heaven and it will not be good for them in Jesus name.

I have heard of a woman that decreed that a certain family will never hear the cry of a baby in their habitations because she was a wicked woman. But the Lord intervened on their behalf when the spirit of the Lord revealed the source of their problem. Have you not heard people say over their dead body, this will not happen before their very eyes.

Our Father in the Lord The General Overseer of this Great Mission of God Pastor EA Adeboye said one of his spiritual sons came to tell him that the current Vice Chancellor of the University he was lecturing had said over his dead body will he become the V.C after him and our Father in The Lord told him that the V.C had made the job very easy because he had decreed his own obituary with his own mouth.

Brethren we must be very careful what we say with our mouth, the mouth has brought life unto people and it has also brought death to some, I pray that we will always choose life as the Bible has advised we do.

We Thank God for His mercies because when Jehovah says Yes no man can say No, when He opens a door no man can shut it. Brethren except the Lord did not say it, but if He did say it will surely come to pass the Bible says in the book of Habakkuk 2:3 ‘For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie, though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

I declare that before the end of this year someone here will hear good tidings of great joy either through the post, the phone or by word of mouth in the Mighty name of Jesus.

Brethren up till now (I mean from the time of Father Abraham up till the Book of Luke 2: 10-20) the Israelites had been experiencing the former rain, and I want to believe that the latter rain is always better than the former rain, I mean literally speaking if you are a farmer or you did a bit of agriculture you will understand what I mean (The former rain is needed for the seed to germinate it comes moderately but the latter rain is needed if the seed will bear fruit and bear it in abundance). The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was like the Latter Rains Israel had been waiting for as announced to the Sheppard’s in Lk. 2: 10-20.

If you read further down in the book of Lk. 2:25-38 you will find an old man (Simeon) and an old woman (Anna) that the Bible made us to understand that the Lord kept until they saw the manifestation of all the Lord had promised He was going to do and to them it was good tidings of great joy to have seen the salvation of the Lord (The Salvation of the whole world).

The Bible says in the book of 1 Cor. 2:9 ‘But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have it entered the heart of man, the things which god hath prepared for them that love him. A new thing that has never been seen heard or perceived before. That is what the Lord is going to do for someone here this morning, if you believe it let your Amen sound like thunder.

The Bible says in the book of Proverbs 10:22 ‘The Blessings of the Lord, it maketh rich and he added no sorrow with it. Jesus is the only true joy Giver, whatever situation you might find yourself He is the great Deliverer, the great Healer, the great Provider, the Restorer, the Help of the help-less, The Prince of Peace, ever so Faithful God, the Man of War, the great Adjucator, the righteous and true Judge, the Husband to the widows, The Father of the father-less. He can deliver you and restore you as well and fill your heart with Joy and cause you to sing a new song in the season of joy, peace and hope. May the Lord do this for you and more in Jesus Mighty name.

My Presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia OBAFAIYE –
Text: Exo. 33: 1- 23
The Theme of the month of August is Jehovah’s manifest presence as spoken by God through His prophet. I perceive in my spirit that Jehovah is saying to someone here today ‘My presence shall go with thee, you are about to embark on a journey (the journey as it were may not necessarily mean travelling from one point to another like from Leeds to United States, but it might be starting a new business, getting married, going back to school, whatever that journey might denote for you, Jehovah is saying to you today, ‘do not be afraid for My manifest presence shall go with thee’.

The Bible makes us to understand that God said to Moses in verse 2 of the text, “I will send an angel before thee as you go to possess the land that is flowing with milk and honey that I promised you and the children of Israel”.

But we thank God for the wisdom of God upon Moses for he had an understanding of the ways of God (the children of Israel were conversant with the acts of God, the miracles, the manna, the parting of the Red Sea, the drowning of their enemies & the meat). May The Lord make His ways known to you and I, so that we know how to please Him at all times.

This was a man like you and I (a mere mortal) yet he communed with God mouth to mouth (for the Bible says God Himself said ‘if there be other prophets He speaks to them in dreams and visions but with Moses He spoke mouth to mouth as a friend would speak with his friend). May The Lord God Almighty speak to you and I as a Friend in Jesus name. He said the same of Abraham His friend in Gen 18:17, ‘And The Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do.

The Bible made us to understand that Moses refused that an angel should go before them rather he insisted that if he had found favour & grace in the sight of God, then God should be the one to lead them, as he rightly said in verse 15-16 (New Living Translation) ‘Then Moses said if you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favourably on me and your people, if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth’.

So Brethren it is the Presence of God that we carry as His children that sets us apart from the world, that is what makes you and I different, unique and special. It is the DNA of Jehovah in us that makes us a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people called out of darkness into His marvellous light to show forth His praise. And God Himself answered and said “My presence shall go with you and I will give thee rest”.

Brethren it is only Jehovah The God of heaven and earth, The Almighty One that sits in Heaven and doeth as He pleases, the Holy One that rules in the affairs of men, He is the only one that sends a man on an errand and goes with him. Moses knew that without the manifest presence of Jehovah they were doomed, their enemies would have triumphed over them.

What does the manifest presence of Jehovah bring:
Just like when an earthly Father travels and does not come home empty handed, rather he comes home bearing gifts, the Bible says God has not called us to seek Him in vain.

Favour: the presence of God in a man’s life comes with His favour.
Joseph Gen. 39: 1-5 (read)
The Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man, and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian (Joseph was a slave & servant in Portiphar’s house, yet the Bible says he was prosperous because God was with him.
Brethren the presence of God comes with His favour and it can change your status and set you apart from the rest.

2) Protection: 1Sam 2:9 (For by strength shall no man prevail)
Prov. 21:31 (The horse is prepared against the day of battle but safety is of The Lord)

Psa. 91:1-3 (He that dwellers in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of Almighty)
Moses understood this very well when he told The Lord, if you will not go with us then there is no need for us to go on our own.

3) Prosperity: (Isaac). The Bible says the silver and the gold belongs to The Lord. Gen. 26: 1-6, 12-13
Brethren because God was with Isaac, he blessed him and he became great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great and became the envy of a whole nation, one man become the envy of a whole nation, it can only be by the manifest presence of God.

4) Guidance: Isa. 30:21 (And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left.

Isa. 41:13 (For I The Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee. Psa. 23: 1-4

5) Wisdom: Brethren true wisdom only comes with the manifest presence of God, our Lord Jesus is the wisdom and power of God, if you have Him as your Lord and Sheperd, you will walk in His wisdom and light and not in darkness.

6) Grace: David Psa. 23:4 (Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointed my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
The presence of God in a man’s life sets him apart to be marked for grace. May you be marked for grace and be graced for life in Jesus name.

7) In the presence of God every old and filthy thing becomes new.
The cleansing of Joshua the High Priest (Zechariah 3: 1-4)
2 Cor. 5:17 (Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new).

8) Victory: Rom. 8:31 (What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? No one.

Deborah & Barak (Judges 4:8)
Barak Israel’s Army General said he will not go to war except Deborah the Judge went with him, why? Because Barak knew that she carried the presence of God, and without the manifest presence of God there will be no victory (no celebration, no party).

9) Peace: The peace of God that surpasses all understanding comes with His manifest presence of Jehovah (Phil. 4:7)
May The Lord help you and I in Jesus name. May the manifest presence of Jehovah never leave us in Jesus name.

Excerpts of a sermon delivered on August 11th , 2013

At thy word, Lord

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye –
The Theme of the month of July is rest by still waters as spoken by God through His Prophet and I perceive in my spirit that God is saying to someone her today I will give you rest, I will make you lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still and restful waters.
There are many definitions of rest but for the message The Lord has for us today the definition of Rest is the absence of labour (the presence of the favour of God in a man’s life) stands out.
The Book of Eccl. 9:11 (Amp. Version) says ‘I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favour to men of skill, but time and chance happen to them all. The new living translation says (I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skilful are not necessarily wealthy and those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time’.
The presence of God and His favour upon your life can grant you the grace to achieve what someone else can’t achieve in 20 years by their strength, skill and knowledge.
It can make you to overtake and out run your enemy like Elijah did in the Book of 1 Kings 18: 41-46, when he outran King Ahab that was riding on horses to the gates of Jezreel on foot because the hand of The Lord was on Him.
My prayer for you is that you will out run your enemies and The Lord God Almighty will grant you rest on all sides in Jesus name.
Our earlier reading from the Book of Eccl. 9:11 said winning the race in life is decided by time and chance, by being in the right place at the right time. The Bible says many are called but few are chosen.
My prayer for us is that we will always be in the right place at the right time, on the day that The Lord will be passing by may we be found at our duty post in Jesus name.
Brethren in 1 Sam 16 David was at the back side of the wilderness tending to the sheep/flock of his family, when Prophet Samuel was sent to his father’s house by Jehovah to anoint a king over Israel. Brethren his Father and Brothers forgot him but heaven remembered him. When Prophet Samuel realised this he said to Jesse and his 7 sons send for him for we will not sit down until he comes and Brethren the Bible recorded that David was anointed King over Israeli in the presence of his Father and Brothers.
May The Lord God Almighty remember you on the day of your honour in Jesus name.
May heaven stand still for you until you are honoured in Jesus name.
In the Book of Luke 5: 1-11, Peter was a seasoned fisherman, he had the skills, he had the qualities of a good fisherman, the best time for fishermen to catch fishes is at night and the Bible made us to understand that he and his men had toiled all night and had taken nothing, remember the Book of Eccl. 9:11 said ‘nor favour is to men of skill, that means that because you have the skills does not necessarily mean you have the favour to excel, favour can only be accorded a man by God. Peter had the skill but he did not have Jesus (The Good Shepherd) the Shepherd that leads His sheep by still restful waters and by green pastures.
The Bible says in Prov. 3:6 ‘Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and He will direct your paths’. The Bible makes us to understand in Luke. 5:2 that there were 2 ships standing by the lake and Our Lord Jesus choose to enter the one that belonged to Simon Peter and He not only entered but He asked him to thrust out a little from the land, so He would teach the people that pressed on Him to hear the word of God.
Remember the Bible said Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing, he must have been disappointed, tired and dreading what his wife was going to say to him when he arrived home with nothing to eat and sell at the market to earn a living.
He would have got angry when he saw The Lord (whom was a total stranger to him at that time) sat in his ship and said to him get out of my ship, I am tired and I am going home to rest, so I can come out again tonight, have you nothing better to do. But Peter did not do any of the above, he rather choose to obey the Lord and when the teaching was over he must have thought that the Lord Jesus would have released him to go home, but no, He said let down your nets for a draught, Peter first gave his excuses, and then he said ‘Nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net and when he had done this, ‘they enclosed a great multitude of fishes and their net brake and they beckoned unto their partners which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them, and they came and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink’.
When you do God’s business, He will definitely take care of your business. When God blesses you like He blessed Abraham, He does not stop there, He makes you to become a blessing to others.
When God grants a man rest, people around him will also enjoy rest. Rest is the absence of war. The Bible says and God granted King Solomon rest round about. Solomon was the only king recorded in the Bible that never fought any war, he did not enjoy the rest of God alone but the whole of Israel enjoyed the rest of God because Solomon was reigning over them and because God granted him rest on all sides.
May The Lord God Almighty grant you rest round about on all sides in Jesus name.
When you allow the Lord Jesus to be your Shepherd, you will never lack anything good that comes from Him, He will always refresh and restore your soul. He will lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. Whatever it is that we do as children of God, My prayer is that we will always say to our Lord and Saviour ‘At Thy Word Lord’. ‘Just say the word and I will obey’. May that be our song all the days of lives in Jesus name.

Sermon delivered at RCCG Everlasting Father’s Arena, York on July 28th 2013

May The Lord Strengthen Thee out of Zion

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye –
The theme of the month of June is Strong and Courageous as spoken by God through His Prophet and I perceive in my spirit that God is saying to someone here today ‘Fear not for I will strengthen you, for I will never leave nor forsake thee’.
Brethren I took the liberty to look up the meaning of the words strong and courageous.
Strong means having the power to move heavy objects or perform other physically demanding tasks like Samson. But no one is stronger than our God, the one that sits in heaven and doeth as He pleases.
The word courageous means having courage, to be valiant and to be brave.
It also means the quality of the mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger and pain.
Brethren of our own accord we can do absolutely nothing but I rejoice at the word of God in the Bk of Phillip. 4:13 which says ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me’.
True strength and courage only comes from God, we can only have the strength and courage of God if we know Him and most importantly if He knows you and I. (2 Tim. 2:19)
The Bk of Isa 40: 28-31 makes us to understand that it is only in the place of waiting upon The Lord that our strength and courage can be renewed by God.
It is in the place of praise & worship to God ( for The Lord seekers those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth), a place of prayer, a place of reading, studying, memorising and meditating on the word of God, that we can draw nearer & closer to Him, and He likewise draws nearer & closer to us. Above all when we begin to put into practice His words that we have hid in our hearts then the more we will become like Him in everything He stands for.
Our main Bible reading will be taken from the Bk of 2 Kings 4: 17-37
Brethren this is an interesting story I must say, very inspiring and encouraging. We can draw so many life changing lessons from it.
Brethren this is a woman that I do not know how long she had been waiting for a child, because the Bible did not tell us how long she had been waiting but it made us to understand in verse 14 of 2 Kings 4 that her husband was old.
Then one day because this woman and her husband provoked God’s blessings by taking care of a Prophet of God (Elisha), he did not ask or command it, he just went about doing God’s business, but un-knowingly to Elisha this Shunammite woman was observing him as he came and went and perceived in her spirit that he was a holy man of God, and she took permission and consent from her husband and they made room for him in their home. So anytime Elisha was in town he had a place to retire and rest.
The Bible says in Matt. 10:41 whomsoever gives a Prophet a cup of water shall receive a Prophet’s reward, whomsoever watereth shall be watered also.
This barren woman became a mother of a son after so many years of waiting.
But Brethren we all know that the devil is a bad devil, the bible says in 1Peter 5:8 he walketh about like a roaring lion seeking whom he will devour, but my prayer is that he will not cast his eyes on us or find us to devour in Jesus mighty name.
The Bible makes us to understand that when this child was grown, when it was almost time for him to begin to reward the labour of his parents care over his life , in his prime, the devil struck and he fell ill and died on his mother’s knees.
This woman had the kind of strength and courage that can only come from God, the grace of God was indeed sufficient for her, she did not tell her husband, she took their son and laid him on the bed of the man of God and shut the door upon him, and went after the man of God.
She just took permission from her husband for the release of one of the young men and one donkey for her trip to go after the man of God.
Brethren the woman of Shunammite ran back to the source of her blessing, she knew that when she gets to where Elisha was she will make a connection with his God.
Brethren what do we do when things begin to fall apart in our lives( trials of faith), do we begin to murmur, do we turn our backs at God, do we begin to go our own way, do we begin to put our trust in man rather in God. The Lord will help us in Jesus name. For the Bible made us to understand that in this world we will have tribulations, but there is encouragement it says be of good cheer for I have overcome the world, so we are over-comers, being a born- again Christian is not a bed of roses it is hard work ( the Bible says we must begin to work out salvation with fear and trembling after we surrender our lives to Jesus) .
This woman believed that the God of Elisha can’t fail and will never fail.
She left home that day with a great faith that the God of Elisha, The God that blessed her even when she had given up hope waiting (because when the man of God told her that about this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son, she did not believe, she said Nay, my Lord, thou man of God do not lie unto thine hand maid) would bring her son back to life.
She also had a positive confession in her mouth and her heart ( for the Bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh) concerning her situation. She said All is well and It is well. The Bible says in Prov. 18:21 ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruits thereof.
Brethren the woman of Shunammite confessed life for her son and she received him alive.
Brethren we must be careful of the words we utter out of our mouth, our words can either save us or enslave us. Brethren words are potent so we need to be careful the words we speak out, not only words but our thoughts as well for the Bible says as a man thinketh in his heart so he is, they say if you want to change a man, change the way he thinks.
My prayer is that God will give us the grace to season our speech with grace and salt so we know how we ought to answer every man.
May The God of heaven hear and strengthen us from Zion on the day of our trouble in Jesus name.

They who know their God shall be strong and courageous

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye –
Text: Dan. 11:32
The Theme of the month of June is Strong and Courageous as spoken by God through His Prophet, and I perceive in my spirit that God is saying to someone here today be strong and courageous for I am with you.
Brethren of our own accord we can do absolutely nothing but I rejoice at the word of God in the Book of Phil. 4:13 which says, ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me’.
The Bible says in Zechariah. 4:6, ‘not by power, not by might but by the spirit of God’.
True strength and courage comes from God, we can only have the strength and courage of God if we know him and most importantly if He knows you and I. The Bible makes us to understand in the Book of 2Tim. 2:19 ‘Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His, and let everyone that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity’.
Knowing Him is confessing your sins and forsaking them and receiving Him into your life as Lord and personal saviour, when you receive Him into your life, you begin to walk with Him and work for Him. You begin to draw nearer and nearer to Him, closer and closer to Him, the more you do this, He draws nearer and closer to you and you become more pure like Him. You begin to live by His words, precepts and commandments.
Knowing Him equates to a relationship with Him which becomes a way of life for you. Like Father like son, Like Father like daughter. You draw near to him in praise, worship, prayer, in reading, studying, meditating, and memorising His word, and above all putting His word into practice (obeying His word, very important).
Knowing Him and He knowing you comes with His Presence, Psa. 16:11 ‘Thou wilt shew me the path of life, in thy presence is fullness of joy and at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore’. When you carry His presence, it comes with intimacy with Him.
The Bible says in Isa. 40:28-31. So as you wait upon The Lord, He renews your strength, He gives you courage to withstand whatever may come your way.
Brethren the Bible says in Neh. 8:10 that, ‘the joy of The Lord is your strength’. Jesus is the only true Joy giver and it is through His Joy that we receive strength. In Acts 4:12 ‘ for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved’. Except the name of Jesus, John 14:6 He is the way, the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father except through Him. So if you want true Joy then come to Jesus and he will deliver you and give you His Joy and strength.
Our own strength can get us nowhere, without Him we can do absolutely nothing. It is in Him we move, we live and have our being. No one can cause you to be strong and courageous unless God inputs it in you. Samson thought his strength was by Him when he said In Judges 16:20 ‘ I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that The Lord was departed from him.’
May The Lord not depart from you and I in Jesus name.
Our confidence and boldness are of Him, because He has never failed, can’t fail and will never fail, Our God is infallible; no one can match Him in all His Glory and Awesomeness. That is the assurance and hope that you and I have in The Lord. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand. Psa. 61:2 ‘From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I’.
David understood this about God when he said to Goliath in the Book of 1Sam. 17:45-47
‘Then said David to the Philistine, Thou cometh to me with a sword and with a spear, and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of The Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defiled. This day will The Lord deliver thee into mine hand, and I will smite thee and take thine head from thee and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that The Lord saveth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lord’s and he will give you into our hands.
Brethren this was a boy of 17 years confronting a giant of 13 foot tall a seasoned warrior, he knew that the God that gave him the strength and courage to tear a lion and a bear to pieces would deliver him from the hands of Goliath.
Moses understood this as well when God told him that an angel will go with them and he said to God in Exo. 33:12 ‘and Moses said unto The Lord, see, thou sayeth unto me, Bring up this people and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. And God answered him in verse 14 ‘And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. Moses knew that without the presence of God there will be no strength and courage.
Joshua had the greatest assurance any man can receive from God, when God said to him in Jos. 1:1-6 (Read) No wonder Joshua being a mere mortal was able to confront the Captain of the host of the Lord thinking He was a mere mortal like him in Jos. 5:13-15. This great servant of God, did not stop there but in Jos. 10:1-14 When five Kings came against him in battle and whilst the battle was still raging and the day was coming to an end and their enemies began to flee from battle, Joshua said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon, and thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of lasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hastest not to go down about a whole day. Verse 14 and there was no day like that before it or after it, that The Lord hearkened unto the voice of man, for The Lord fought for Israel.
The Lord will fight for you and you will hold your peace in Jesus name.
It was the strength and courage of God in the life of Joseph that empowered him to flee from Potiphar’s bed in the Book of Gen. 39:7-13 for he said in verse 9 ‘how then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?

The Bible says in Job 28:28, ‘The fear of God is wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding’. True wisdom and understanding comes from God and if any man lacks this the Bible encourages us to ask from God who gives liberally.
Daniel: Dan. 6: 1-28. An excellent spirit always goes hand in hand with the strength and courage of God.
The Bible says in the Book of Prov. 18:16 ‘A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men’.
It was the Divine excellency and wisdom of God upon Daniel that made room for him in a strange land and he stood before the reign of 3 Kings and he was always preferred above his adversaries and peers. May you stand out in life, wherever you find yourselves may you be preferred above all in Jesus name.
The Bible makes us to understand that King Darius signed the writing and the decree; I want to believe he had no idea that it was a plot against his special friend Daniel.
The Bible says in Ecc. 8:4 ‘Where the word of a king is there is power, and who may say unto him, what doest thou? The decree had been sealed, there was no going back for the King even though in verse 10 the Bible says Daniel knew that the writing was signed and he went into his house and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he did afore time. (Your walk and work for God must become a way of life, it needs to be consistent, it needs to become like a habit for you, Daniel did this all the time. Sunday service he was there, Wednesday digging deep he was there, Saturday morning prayer he was there, night vigil he was there, House fellowship on Sunday after church he was there, Evangelism on Saturdays he was there).
They that know their God will be strong and courageous and they will do exploits for Him in Jesus name.
Daniel knew the God he served, he knew that God will never fail nor forsake him, peradventure he fell into the hands of those wicked presidents and princes that sought to find an occasion against him to put him into trouble with the King, so the King can dislike him. When the ways of a man pleases God he maketh his enemies to be at peace with him.
Brethren the Bible says surely they shall gather but because the gathering is not of Him, they will scatter in Jesus name. He said they will come against us in one way but they will flee from us in 7 ways in Jesus name.
The Bible says in Lam. 3:37 ‘Who is he that saith and it cometh to pass, when The Lord commandeth it not?
Brethren the God of Daniel delivered him from the den of lions because he demonstrated His strength and courage, the Bible says that King Darius was so sore displeased with himself and he set his heart to deliver Daniel but he would not, the Bible says the arm of flesh will fail at all times but they that put their trust in God shall be like Mt Zion that abideth forever.
In verse 19-23, the King arose very early in the morning and went in haste unto the den of lions and when he got there he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel and asked ‘O Daniel servant of the living God is they God, whom thou servest continually (this statement means the God you are never tired of serving) able to deliver thee from the lion’s den? Daniel answered, O King, live for ever, My God hath sent his angel, And hath shut the lion’s mouths, that they have not hurt me, for as much as before him innocence was found in me, and also before thee, O King, have I done no hurt’.
Brethren the Bible says Jesus said the prince of this world cometh to me and found nothing in me.
My prayer is that our testimony will be the same in Jesus name.
May the strength and courage of God be our clothing, and may we demonstrate it in our lives at all times in Jesus name.
Brethren I have come to encourage someone here today, that whatever might represent the den of lions in your life, The Lord God Almighty, The man of war will deliver you in Jesus name.
The Bible says in Eph. 6:10 ‘Finally, my Brethren be strong in The Lord and in the power of his might.
Prayers:
1Sam. 30:6-8
Father whatever situation I find myself in life, may your strength and courage come from within me in Jesus name.

Job 5:19
Father whatever situation I might find myself in life, Father deliver me in Jesus name

May the Lord hear you in the day of trouble, may the name of the God of Jacob defend thee, may He send you help from the sanctuary and strengthen you out of Zion in Jesus name.
