My Presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia OBAFAIYE –
Text: Exo. 33: 1- 23
The Theme of the month of August is Jehovah’s manifest presence as spoken by God through His prophet. I perceive in my spirit that Jehovah is saying to someone here today ‘My presence shall go with thee, you are about to embark on a journey (the journey as it were may not necessarily mean travelling from one point to another like from Leeds to United States, but it might be starting a new business, getting married, going back to school, whatever that journey might denote for you, Jehovah is saying to you today, ‘do not be afraid for My manifest presence shall go with thee’.

The Bible makes us to understand that God said to Moses in verse 2 of the text, “I will send an angel before thee as you go to possess the land that is flowing with milk and honey that I promised you and the children of Israel”.

But we thank God for the wisdom of God upon Moses for he had an understanding of the ways of God (the children of Israel were conversant with the acts of God, the miracles, the manna, the parting of the Red Sea, the drowning of their enemies & the meat). May The Lord make His ways known to you and I, so that we know how to please Him at all times.

This was a man like you and I (a mere mortal) yet he communed with God mouth to mouth (for the Bible says God Himself said ‘if there be other prophets He speaks to them in dreams and visions but with Moses He spoke mouth to mouth as a friend would speak with his friend). May The Lord God Almighty speak to you and I as a Friend in Jesus name. He said the same of Abraham His friend in Gen 18:17, ‘And The Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do.

The Bible made us to understand that Moses refused that an angel should go before them rather he insisted that if he had found favour & grace in the sight of God, then God should be the one to lead them, as he rightly said in verse 15-16 (New Living Translation) ‘Then Moses said if you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favourably on me and your people, if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth’.

So Brethren it is the Presence of God that we carry as His children that sets us apart from the world, that is what makes you and I different, unique and special. It is the DNA of Jehovah in us that makes us a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people called out of darkness into His marvellous light to show forth His praise. And God Himself answered and said “My presence shall go with you and I will give thee rest”.

Brethren it is only Jehovah The God of heaven and earth, The Almighty One that sits in Heaven and doeth as He pleases, the Holy One that rules in the affairs of men, He is the only one that sends a man on an errand and goes with him. Moses knew that without the manifest presence of Jehovah they were doomed, their enemies would have triumphed over them.

What does the manifest presence of Jehovah bring:
Just like when an earthly Father travels and does not come home empty handed, rather he comes home bearing gifts, the Bible says God has not called us to seek Him in vain.

Favour: the presence of God in a man’s life comes with His favour.
Joseph Gen. 39: 1-5 (read)
The Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man, and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian (Joseph was a slave & servant in Portiphar’s house, yet the Bible says he was prosperous because God was with him.
Brethren the presence of God comes with His favour and it can change your status and set you apart from the rest.

2) Protection: 1Sam 2:9 (For by strength shall no man prevail)
Prov. 21:31 (The horse is prepared against the day of battle but safety is of The Lord)

Psa. 91:1-3 (He that dwellers in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of Almighty)
Moses understood this very well when he told The Lord, if you will not go with us then there is no need for us to go on our own.

3) Prosperity: (Isaac). The Bible says the silver and the gold belongs to The Lord. Gen. 26: 1-6, 12-13
Brethren because God was with Isaac, he blessed him and he became great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great and became the envy of a whole nation, one man become the envy of a whole nation, it can only be by the manifest presence of God.

4) Guidance: Isa. 30:21 (And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left.

Isa. 41:13 (For I The Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee. Psa. 23: 1-4

5) Wisdom: Brethren true wisdom only comes with the manifest presence of God, our Lord Jesus is the wisdom and power of God, if you have Him as your Lord and Sheperd, you will walk in His wisdom and light and not in darkness.

6) Grace: David Psa. 23:4 (Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointed my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
The presence of God in a man’s life sets him apart to be marked for grace. May you be marked for grace and be graced for life in Jesus name.

7) In the presence of God every old and filthy thing becomes new.
The cleansing of Joshua the High Priest (Zechariah 3: 1-4)
2 Cor. 5:17 (Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new).

8) Victory: Rom. 8:31 (What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? No one.

Deborah & Barak (Judges 4:8)
Barak Israel’s Army General said he will not go to war except Deborah the Judge went with him, why? Because Barak knew that she carried the presence of God, and without the manifest presence of God there will be no victory (no celebration, no party).

9) Peace: The peace of God that surpasses all understanding comes with His manifest presence of Jehovah (Phil. 4:7)
May The Lord help you and I in Jesus name. May the manifest presence of Jehovah never leave us in Jesus name.

Excerpts of a sermon delivered on August 11th , 2013

Jehovah Shammah will show up for me in Jesus name

By Minister Aderemi Adelugba –

Text: Daniel 3: 1-30
One of the names of the Lord is known as Jehovah Shammah, meaning “Jehovah is there”. He is ever present in our affairs. Jehovah Shammah is not an ordinary name, it represents God’s divine presence and safety, and His appearance brings joy. It is the name that showed up for Moses, which made him to sail through with safety. The Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were also delivered from being roasted in the burning furnace. The book of Proverb 18:10 – The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it and is safe. It is the name that answers for every situation. It answered for Paul and Silas when they were locked up, and the Holy Spirit descended and unlocks the prison miraculously. When Jehovah Shammah appears in your problem, the problem will submit in Jesus name.

Matthew 18:20 say: For where two or three people are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

The month of August is the month that Jehovah’s would manifest His presence in our life. You need to step back and let God’s presence take over. Enough of all your physical effort; step back and allow Him to step in the boat, and you will never sink again in Jesus name. If you think you have failed too many times, when God’s presence falls, failure will be replaced by success in Jesus name.

For you to fulfil divine purpose in life, you need the presence of God to go with you always. In Exodus 33:13-15, Moses demanded the presence of God in his entire journey; he recognised that if the presence of God followed him, He would be able to do exploit.

Exodus 33:13-15 – Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.14 And he said, my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Isaiah 43:1-7 – But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. 2 When thou passes through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. 3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee…………….

The text today is from the book of Daniel 3:1-30, Nebuchadnezzar reacts in anger to how the three Hebrew boys responded when they were asked to bow down to Nebuchadnezzar’s fabricated image. He decided that, they be destroyed in the burning furnace. He orders them bound up and cast into a furnace heated some seven times hotter than it was normally. The fire was so hot that it slays the men who toss them into the fire. But you will not be burnt even if the fire is one million times heated up in Jesus name.

Born again believer should have a different standard of living from the world around him: For the presence of Jehovah to be with you, your life must be so distinguished from the life of any ordinary man. The life the Hebrew boys lived was a great example of how the righteous people should live. They stood for God, not for a mere man.

For God to stand up for you, you stop sitting down concerning the work of God committed to your hands. The Hebrew boys recognised there was job to be done, and that in upholding the faith they have in the Lord, they could touch lives. They were working and spreading the good news even in that difficult terrain. They got the reward for the labour of love, and were not burnt even in the burning furnace.

In Daniel 3: 25, God showed up for the Hebrew boys: When God shows up in the situation that appears to be heated, the heat would become snowflakes. The boys were just feeling cold even when the King and his cohorts thought the flame would kill them. King Nebuchadnezzar recognised the fourth loose man in the fire; this simply means the Lord manifested His divine presence. God opened his eyes to see another person, and he says he looks like God. God will stand and show up for you in Jesus name.

Testimony will abound in Jesus name: The whole world will be able to see what the Lord is doing in your life and they will testify to the Lord’s goodness. Daniel 3:28; King Nebuchadnezzar testified to recognising another man with the boys. This is the absolute presence of God. He testified to seeing Jehovah Shammah having a fellowship even in the fiery burning furnace. Because of this, instead of inflicting other sorts of punishment on the boys, He gave a decree that nobody should speak against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Two decrees made in one day by one king. The best decree overruled his initial decree. The Lord will change the laws of this nation because of your faithfulness in Jesus name.

Prayer points:

O Lord, I surrender myself, take the front seat and decorate me in Jesus name.

O Lord, as many as are planning evil against me, let your presence fall in Jesus name.

At thy word, Lord

By Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye –
The Theme of the month of July is rest by still waters as spoken by God through His Prophet and I perceive in my spirit that God is saying to someone her today I will give you rest, I will make you lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still and restful waters.
There are many definitions of rest but for the message The Lord has for us today the definition of Rest is the absence of labour (the presence of the favour of God in a man’s life) stands out.
The Book of Eccl. 9:11 (Amp. Version) says ‘I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favour to men of skill, but time and chance happen to them all. The new living translation says (I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skilful are not necessarily wealthy and those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time’.
The presence of God and His favour upon your life can grant you the grace to achieve what someone else can’t achieve in 20 years by their strength, skill and knowledge.
It can make you to overtake and out run your enemy like Elijah did in the Book of 1 Kings 18: 41-46, when he outran King Ahab that was riding on horses to the gates of Jezreel on foot because the hand of The Lord was on Him.
My prayer for you is that you will out run your enemies and The Lord God Almighty will grant you rest on all sides in Jesus name.
Our earlier reading from the Book of Eccl. 9:11 said winning the race in life is decided by time and chance, by being in the right place at the right time. The Bible says many are called but few are chosen.
My prayer for us is that we will always be in the right place at the right time, on the day that The Lord will be passing by may we be found at our duty post in Jesus name.
Brethren in 1 Sam 16 David was at the back side of the wilderness tending to the sheep/flock of his family, when Prophet Samuel was sent to his father’s house by Jehovah to anoint a king over Israel. Brethren his Father and Brothers forgot him but heaven remembered him. When Prophet Samuel realised this he said to Jesse and his 7 sons send for him for we will not sit down until he comes and Brethren the Bible recorded that David was anointed King over Israeli in the presence of his Father and Brothers.
May The Lord God Almighty remember you on the day of your honour in Jesus name.
May heaven stand still for you until you are honoured in Jesus name.
In the Book of Luke 5: 1-11, Peter was a seasoned fisherman, he had the skills, he had the qualities of a good fisherman, the best time for fishermen to catch fishes is at night and the Bible made us to understand that he and his men had toiled all night and had taken nothing, remember the Book of Eccl. 9:11 said ‘nor favour is to men of skill, that means that because you have the skills does not necessarily mean you have the favour to excel, favour can only be accorded a man by God. Peter had the skill but he did not have Jesus (The Good Shepherd) the Shepherd that leads His sheep by still restful waters and by green pastures.
The Bible says in Prov. 3:6 ‘Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and He will direct your paths’. The Bible makes us to understand in Luke. 5:2 that there were 2 ships standing by the lake and Our Lord Jesus choose to enter the one that belonged to Simon Peter and He not only entered but He asked him to thrust out a little from the land, so He would teach the people that pressed on Him to hear the word of God.
Remember the Bible said Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing, he must have been disappointed, tired and dreading what his wife was going to say to him when he arrived home with nothing to eat and sell at the market to earn a living.
He would have got angry when he saw The Lord (whom was a total stranger to him at that time) sat in his ship and said to him get out of my ship, I am tired and I am going home to rest, so I can come out again tonight, have you nothing better to do. But Peter did not do any of the above, he rather choose to obey the Lord and when the teaching was over he must have thought that the Lord Jesus would have released him to go home, but no, He said let down your nets for a draught, Peter first gave his excuses, and then he said ‘Nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net and when he had done this, ‘they enclosed a great multitude of fishes and their net brake and they beckoned unto their partners which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them, and they came and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink’.
When you do God’s business, He will definitely take care of your business. When God blesses you like He blessed Abraham, He does not stop there, He makes you to become a blessing to others.
When God grants a man rest, people around him will also enjoy rest. Rest is the absence of war. The Bible says and God granted King Solomon rest round about. Solomon was the only king recorded in the Bible that never fought any war, he did not enjoy the rest of God alone but the whole of Israel enjoyed the rest of God because Solomon was reigning over them and because God granted him rest on all sides.
May The Lord God Almighty grant you rest round about on all sides in Jesus name.
When you allow the Lord Jesus to be your Shepherd, you will never lack anything good that comes from Him, He will always refresh and restore your soul. He will lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. Whatever it is that we do as children of God, My prayer is that we will always say to our Lord and Saviour ‘At Thy Word Lord’. ‘Just say the word and I will obey’. May that be our song all the days of lives in Jesus name.

Purge yourself and have rest on all sides

Purge yourself and have rest on all sides, by Dr Aderemi Adelugba

Text: 2 Chronicles 14: 1-7; 15: 1-15

The month of February has been declared the month of Divine Cleansing by God Almighty through His prophet. The simple meaning of cleansing is purging. Purging away of all uncleanliness is required before you can have rest on all sides. Un-cleanliness means iniquity, sins and filthiness. If all these are not purged, it would result in complication and unpleasant situations like afflictions, lack of peace, failure, lack, unproductiveness, joblessness, sickness and many more. Therefore, it is absolutely important to acknowledge our transgressions and recognise that, only the King of kings can purge and wash us clean. We have to turn away from all crookedness, wickedness and ask the Lord for a clean and pure heart.

Isaiah 55:7: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon”.

Repentance and restoration are two fundamental experiences a man must undergo before he can be separated for the Lord’s use. Without these, they would not enjoy God’s rest. Sin is not to be covered up. If you cover up your sins, God can come down with heavy hands. But when you call upon Him, He will purge and restore you for favour (Psalm 32:3-5). May the Lord cleanse all our iniquities and make His spirit to dwell in us in Jesus name.

The Israelites were God’s own people. He had compassion over them and, they were highly favoured. He even called them His son (Hosea 11:1). But unfortunately, they continued to disappoint God who had planned their repentance. They were engrossed in sins and uncleanliness. Still, God was so keen to bring them back to righteousness. For their joy to be full, and for them to have rest on all sides, they needed to get rid of all the strange gods (2 Chronicles 14:3). God on numerous occasions raised up Judges, Priests, Prophets and Kings. King Asa of Judah was one of them.

In 2 Chronicles 14:1-7, King Asa inherited a nation full of greed, idolatry, anarchy and all forms of sins and uncleanliness. Asa’s first responsibility was to purge the land of all sins. King Asa led a powerful revival that lead to cleansing and restoration of the people. The focus of this sermon was to reiterate that a child of God must purge himself or herself before they can have peace and rest. The scripture says in Asa’s days as king, the land was quiet for 10 years. I don’t know what stronghold or turmoil you are experiencing, but now there shall be peace in Jesus name.

Peace and prosperity: These can only happen when people put God first, and walk away from all uncleanliness. Asa did just that, he destroyed all alters of Baal and high places. God would not abandon His people, if they can turn away from all uncleanliness and turn to Him. He would invite and cause them to enjoy peace.

God reacts to our actions: Asa acted, and God honoured Himself in the life of His people.

2 Chronicle 14:5 “Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him”.

If you choose to get rid of your filthiness and sins, the Lord is sincere, just and faithful at all times to help and respond to your willingness. He is our constant help in trouble. For a long time, Israel was in the hand of Jeroboam and, the misbehaviour of Rehoboam after the death of Solomon. They paid dearly and were ruled over by godless kings. But when King Asa came, divine turn around came for them. Every atrocities or mistakes you have made in your life that has caused you problems, the King of kings will cleanse and restore you back in Jesus name.

For you to have rest on all sides, you must seek Him wholeheartedly: The Lord destroyed the Ethiopians and restored His people (2 Chronicles 14:11-14). To seek God wholeheartedly would mean to ignore sins and remain cleansed. In this month the Lord will give you rest all around in Jesus name.

In 2 Chronicles 15:15. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about”.

Humility is required, if you must remain purged: The Prodigal son returned to his father in humility – Luke 15:11-22. We saw how the prodigal son landed himself in a deep mess. He spent all his inheritance lavishly, drinking and living in sin with boys without future. But one day, after he had hit the bottom of his failure, feeding with swine and dwelling in poverty, he discovered the need to be cleansed and return in humility. Luke 15:18 “He said, I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father I have sinned against heaven and before you”…The Lord will grant you the courage to arise and be purged. He will receive you and grant you rest on all sides in Jesus name.

You must meet Him daily in fellowship, praises and thanksgivings: In Luke 19:1-10, the bible showed us how the man Zaccheus encountered the Lord Jesus Christ. This unpopular wealthy short tax collector was hated by his fellow Jews as a terrible sinner. He might have been hearing about the powerful miracles the Lord Jesus had been doing, and he desired to know Him. For Zaccheus to be purged, he needed to meet the Lord. The Lord is waiting for you. Desire Him and He will dine with you. Following the encounter, Zaccheus enjoyed the salvation of the Lord with his household Luke 19: 9-10. The god of money in his life was dethroned, and the saving Lord was enthroned in His life. Therefore, you are also a candidate of heaven.

God can purge and heal every sickness: Only the Lord of heaven can purge us of all infirmities. Not a king or prince of this world. He can undo what the earthily doctors have declared concerning your health. God spoke his word through Elisha into Naaman’s leprosy that, he should go and wash in Jordan seven times. Following this, Naaman’s flesh became like that of a little child (2 Kings 5:1-19).

I don’t know what your sins have been, how much you have wrongfully received from people, what the doctors have spoken concerning your health. The Lord is inviting you back to himself and He will perform wonderful miracles in your life and, you will have rest on all sides in Jesus name Amen.
